Position Title: Sr Software Engineer I

External Description:

Sr. Rendering Engineer

The senior rendering engineer role involves a broad understanding of the game code and ownership of the design and maintenance of the rendering sub-system and code for the Madden Football Franchise. This role requires leadership and communication skills to be an effective tech lead for a team of engineers while interfacing with technical directors, art directors, and cg supervisors. Our senior engineers are responsible for innovation and guidance of the engine level rendering technology as well as developing and training engineers of all levels. Senior engineers help to develop our team’s roadmaps and milestones.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, modify, and optimize graphic and related rendering systems for the NBA Franchise
  • Engine level code design and architecture
  • Work closely with artists and drive the development of tools that need to be built for a production quality 3D art pipeline
  • Deploy, evaluate performance and test software on Xbox One/PS4/Windows
  • Own performance analysis and optimization on large game projects.
  • Analyze, refactor and improve existing graphics/engine technology and tools.
  • Leading and mentor engineers at all levels

What does EA look for? 

  • B.S. (or higher) in Computer Software Engineering or Equivalent
  • 9+ Years of C/C++ Experience (preferably in the games industry)
  • Experience working with XBOX One and/or PS4 hardware would be ideal.
  • Understanding of GPU and CPU architectures and optimization thereof
  • Experience with Direct3D 11 and console graphics APIs

    • Particle Effects 
    • Secondary Motion
  • Experience with OOP Design Principles.  Strong background with parallel programming and multi-threading
  • Strong 3D math skills
  • Experience mentoring a team of 2-6 engineers.
  • Passion for making amazing looking games and striving for photo real graphics on current hardware.
  • C#/Python/MEL Scripting experience is a plus
  • 3D Authoring Package Usage (Maya/Houdini, Softimage, 3DSMax, Blender, etc.) experience is a plus
  • Domain knowledge  in other areas outside of rendering such as physics, animation, runtime, or platform technologies is a plus
