The Challenge Ahead:

The Mission Control Center (MCC) resides within the EA Digital Platforms Technical Operations team which oversees the infrastructure that our games run on. The MCC is the central contact for the Digital Platform team and plays an essential role in driving online ‘always on’ services keeping a watchful eye over all monitored endpoints to provide a continuous 24X7 uptime for our partners.

In a fast-paced world, access to games should be fast too. Whether it is a quick game over lunch or meeting friends online at a specific time to play a few matches, when people want to play games -- we want to be there for them. The MCC team will ensure a positive gaming experience by driving quick incident response to minimize player impact. That can only be done with a great team, inter-team collaboration, and at least a little fun.

We’re looking for a Systems Administrator to:

  • You will report to the Senior Manager and be the first point of contact for systems related issues
  • You will triage issues, provides an initial evaluation of the issue, performs troubleshooting steps and assists our internal Tier 3 engineers ensuring that our escalation process and procedures are followed.
  • You will create and add documentation to our knowledge base and run books for all elements that are monitored by our MCC
  • You will participate in projects to improve the activity performed by MCC
  • Understand the demands a 24x7 real-time online operational environment requires
  • You provide daily oversight of MCC incidents to include monitoring/tracking systems related incidents
  • You will help build EAs technical knowledge base, run books and escalation policies for daily issue resolution for systems and site management
  • You will provide technical expertise in identifying and developing systems and procedures that are cost-effective and meet user requirements
  • You will analyze data to help provide results of emergency management and disaster recovery drills as defined by agreed incident escalation and disaster recovery policies
  • You will partner with other EA Operational teams to reduce systems downtime
  • You will use technical and hierarchical escalation methods to ensure the successful resolution of incidents within the agreed SLAs
  • You will ensure MCC notification and escalation procedures are followed
  • Designs and develops scripting and other automation tasks
  • You will partner with external teams to develop and implement improved deployment practices
  • You will troubleshoot application, network, and server level problems for internal systems
  • Maintains Backup systems and perform regular system backups and test restore
  • Review log files and other server monitoring data for problems and perform proactive maintenance

The next EA Systems Administrator needs:

  • You have experience with Cloud services deployments, understanding of existing Cloud technology offerings, and experience with integrated public cloud services 
  • 3+ years of experience with Systems Operations/Engineering organizational responsibilities which include ownership and management of incident escalation, resolution tracking, and resolution reporting
  • Understand application transport and network infrastructure protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP)
  • Have experience or knowledge of Network Operations Center best practices
  • Crisis management skills
  • Can define problems, document and establish facts to draw valid conclusions
  • Have experience with OS security fundamentals for publicly accessible Linux servers
  • Have experience with common Linux and/or Unix Systems administration tools
  • Are flexible as the position will require shift work to include weekends and holidays
