Position Title: Software Engineer III

External Description:

We are the EA Sports Mobile Team, a division of EA crafting high quality mobile games and focusing on delivering high-quality, immersive experiences created to fit lifestyle of mobile gamers. EA Sports Mobile currently operates in Vancouver, British Columbia, Orlando, Florida, and Bucharest, Romania. We’re now on the hunt for a new Server Engineer to join our team in Vancouver, BC.

Your Impact at EA:  

Utilizing your strong server-side technical knowledge and track record optimizing high performance enterprise systems, you’ll take on challenges to scale and improve backend services and tools ensuring high-quality, connected experiences for our players.   Collaborating with producers, designers, and other engineers to deliver rapid and efficient game development and dynamic live services, you’ll participate in design and code reviews and help maintain high quality standards throughout the Software Development Life Cycle. Essentially, your ability to develop complex backend services and scalable solutions will help ensure immersive and continuous joy for our mobile players.  

Does This Describe You?  

  • B.Sc. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience.
  • Extensive experience developing server/backend applications on the Java platform.
  • Deep knowledge of the Java programming language and exposure to other JVM languages.
  • Knowledge of MySQL, Jetty/Jersey/Apache is expected.
  • Deep knowledge developing database applications, especially MySQL.
  • Experience with other SQL and NoSQL databases, such as AWS RDS is a plus.
  • A minimum of 6 years’ technical experience primarily on Linux/Unix for medium or large-scale Internet applications/systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of good software engineering practices and methodologies (Scrum, XP, Lean, TDD, CI, etc). 
  • Exposure to client technologies such as Haxe, Lua, C++ is a plus.
  • Experience with source code management: Perforce, Git, CVS and Subversion.
