External Description:

We are DICE

DICE (EA Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment), the award-winning studio based in Stockholm, Sweden, is best known for creating the phenomenally successful Battlefield franchise, the Battlefront franchise, and the innovative game Mirror’s Edge.

We work through our 4 guiding values: Passion with Purpose, Creative Innovation, Everything Quality, and One Community. We recognise that our people are the backbone and driving force to our creative products. As such, we are dedicated in providing everyone the ability to express, learn, and be their very best with a common cause.

The DICE UI team creates the layer between fiction and reality. Our relentless mission to immerse players makes DICE UI technology challenging and fun. Challenges are given by UX design, but also rendering performance and implementing our world-class art direction. At DICE, nothing is impossible and if a feature makes the experience better for our players we will make it work.

We are currently expanding our UI team and we need an experienced C++ developer. You love to simplify and challenge existing ideas, but you are not afraid to use what someone else has built to achieve your goals. You understand the importance of well-structured code, best practices and tested code. You will be faced with a technology stack capable of things unique in the world and will be asked to improve it. Whether it’s optimization, feature development or rewriting bug-prone code you will do it to take us further and, in the end, make our players see and feel something amazing that they have not experienced before.

As a Senior UI Software engineer at DICE, you will be working closely with artists, scripters, game designers and producers in cross-disciplinary feature teams. Sometimes you will face intense periods of research and coding pushing the boundaries of what is possible to do with today’s hardware and software. If an artist wants an effect that we currently don’t have in our engine, we will simply create it. At DICE, we live on the edge of technology. Pushing boundaries is not just something we say we do, it will be your job.

Things we like to see at DICE UI

  • A love for playing and making games
  • Taking an idea from start to finish on your own
  • Previous experience working with game engines and developing games for modern platforms
  • Strong C++ experience
  • Working in a highly collaborative and creative environment
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Willingness to actively share knowledge throughout the team

Good to have experience with

  • Prototyping, and able to quickly sketch out ideas before diving into implementation
  • Test-driven development
  • Developing and exploring new systems
  • Using multiple engines and tools
  • Rendering
  • UX
  • C# development experience
  • Experience researching, developing & optimizing low-level game engine code on multiple platforms

What’s in it for you? Glad you asked!

At DICE we take care of our staff and have done so during our steady growth over the last decade. In addition to a competitive compensation package, we offer our employees 10 EA games per year, massage every three weeks, a variety of sports activities (yoga and cross fit to name a few) and healthcare allowance. We have a collective bargain agreement with Unionen and Sveriges Ingenjörer and also provide our employees with an occupational pension.

Although we enjoy working hard at DICE, we respect and value our employees’ personal lives. A good work-life balance is something we practice and maintain even during high-intensity periods.
