Position Title: Principal Game Designer I

External Description:

We're looking for an experienced Game Design Director to join our team, you will report to our Head of Design.

As Game Design Director, you have experience with all elements of mobile game development, from pre-production through live ops. You have experience with all areas of design, including gameplay, systems, and economy. You have an acute awareness of free to play mobile games and understand how design can maximize Goals while ensuring a focus on the player experience. You are a team-oriented person who excels in an innovative environment and someone who enjoys working with talented people on great games. Experience working with distributed or remote teams is a major benefit.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the core Creative Team to guide the creation and refinement of game designs.
  • Collaborate with other project leads, contributors, and team members to set clear goals and priorities for development
  • improve understanding and excitement for the game vision within the team and with external partners
  • Provide and solicit feedback from all partners and team members in a graceful, constructive manner, with suggestions and solutions for improvement to both process and project
  • Inspire and guide designers on your team in the pursuit of, creative designs implemented to the highest quality
  • Be accountable for the project quality targets and the results achieved

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7 years industry experience in the field of mobile game design.
  • A minimum of 2 shipped products as a Lead designer.
  • Experience designing game economies and tuning/balancing game systems
  • Shipped title experience with successful mobile titles
  • Excellent design skills and thorough understanding of game design theory.
  • Strong knowledge of retention, engagement, and monetization, and how to design across different genres to target players
  • A deep desire for delivering a high level of quality, with an awareness of what the prevailing standards of quality are in game design.
  • The ability to function well during high stress and high-pressure circumstances.
  • A demonstrated ability to make wise decisions regarding game design.
  • Experience managing game design teams.
