Position Title: Advanced Legal Specialist

Role overview:

At EA, we inspire the world to play.  The Player Privacy & Protection Team (PP&P Team) is looking for a Data Privacy Manager to work closely with the Privacy Attorneys to ensure that all businesses operations maintain compliance with all current data privacy legislation, such as GDPR and CCPA. The role will be responsible for the implementation and ongoing development of the company’s data protection program including the processes and tools needed to process player and employee data.

This position will report to the Chief Privacy Officer and will be based in either Redwood City, California; Los Angeles, California; or Seattle, Washington.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and be the first escalation point for data protection queries, data subject rights requests, data protection impact assessments, and data mapping
  • Work closely with the CPO and DPO to manage data privacy and related compliance projects, processes, and technologies
  • Work cross-functionally within EA Legal and the business to raise awareness of data protection best practices, drive compliance to privacy regulations, and ensure that stakeholders are incorporating privacy protection into their ongoing ways of working and decision making
  • Evaluate the impact, and monitor the performance and effectiveness of, data protection assessments; undertake other privacy and data protection-related investigations where necessary
  • Inventory, review, and continually update data sources, data flows, and data processing activities
  • Coordinate with game teams to manage and implement cookie banner in accordance with EU laws
  • Work with 3rd party for mobile certifications and cross-border certifications (Privacy Shield and APAC equivalent)
  • Write and update data protection documentation and guidelines; document processes and process amendments as required by regulations
  • Develop guidance as well as training and awareness materials for relevant business functions involved in the processing of personal data
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 5-8+ years of experience working in a privacy, compliance, legal operations, or similar team within a law firm or in-house within a technology company
  • Demonstrable knowledge and work experience in data protection and adherence to privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA
  • Ability to independently, quickly and accurately assess legal and business risks, as well as risks to data subjects, in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in capturing and prioritizing business requirements, optimizing business processes, evaluating technology solutions, and managing global projects
  • Managed vendor relationships for delivering projects and adherence to service levels
  • Must be a team player, who seeks practical and creative solutions in a collaborative way
  • Sharp focus on multi-tasking, details, and organizational skills
  • Experience in recommending, writing, and delivering guidelines and policy documents
  • High level of proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently, managing conflicting priorities with ease and efficiency, highly professional with the ability to be firm and assertive when necessary
  • The ability to effectively lead and influence colleagues, direct reports, and business partners to ensure that they deliver high-quality work and remain motivated

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certificated Information Privacy Professional
  • Experience working with OneTrust
  • Working knowledge of software development concepts and related technical issues
  • Managed team of two or more direct reports
  • Strong knowledge of and interest in emerging technologies and devices
