Role Overview

Quality Designers are individual contributors specialized in key domains of the QV process. Depending on the domain of specialty will work embedded within the Development organization or on a central/shared group, drive continuous improvement of the QV practice across EA and actively knowledge share across the organization, have a strong Quality focus from a consumer perspective, strong advocate and influencer in game design and implementation decisions.

Quality Designers collect, analyze and use data to guide their daily decisions. Key items to focus on include: balance and tuning, features and systems, customer data, processes and workflows, the proper selection of metrics to use, and how to analyze/synthesize data.
EAX QV is seeking an individual to fill a Quality Designer (QD) role for the EAX Content and Partner Support Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving quality strategies and processes for applied automation strategies, as well as defining best practice methodology for the overall QV vision.This position is integral to ensure the team is focused on providing the strongest end to end coverage and experience for EA's players, and to help EA deliver on its commitment to putting Players First.

Challenges and Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates an advanced understanding of the importance of metrics and analytics and regularly utilizes them when doing research and providing feedback
• Focus on predictable quality solutions and methods for EAX publishing, Origin and content
• Develop and foster strong working relationships with senior members of the development, production and design teams
• Help drive Bug Prevention and Containment initiatives for EAX QV
• Problem solving with peers. Mentors junior designers on problem solving
• Begins to use critical thinking techniques to analyze, synthesize and evaluate information
• Provides task breakdowns, planning, dependencies and time estimates for own assignments
• Provides input to management team to assist decision making; helps assess project impact of available options
• Articulates trends in a relevant community. Understands what the community wants and expects from a type of game and incorporates that understanding into feedback
• Breaks down and provides an analysis of the competition. Identifies product differentiation and provides impact analysis
• Is capable to translate End to End Customer experience into Test Strategies for a Product
• Collaborate with overall QX LT team to standardise best practices around (ex: Knowledge sharing, project collaboration and improved feedback loops)
• Champion player experience improvements through analysis of trending data and cross team collaboration (ex: EAX Support, WWCE, EACC)
• Works with QE team to align on automation and testing tool needs
• Anticipate future issues impacting the health of EAX products/services and the team dynamics
• Telemetry and data visualization power user and active participant in data improvement

The next great Quality Designer for EAX QV also needs:

• 5+ years Quality Designer/Associate Quality Designer experience
• 2+ years Live Service experience
• Understanding of ITIL methodologies
• Familiarity with Origin products and offers
• Experience with PC & Web testing tools (Fiddler, Wireshark, Browser Dev Tools, etc.)
• Experience working with Waterfall and Agile methodologies
• Advanced understanding of Bug Prevention and Containment strategies
• Familiar with automated testing and benefits
• Advanced knowledge of JIRA and test suite management tools
• Power BI and reporting
• Experience working with off-site teams
• Strong understanding of effective automation application
