I. Role Overview

This position provides many opportunities for career growth and development. The Strategic Growth Initiatives (SGI) Finance Director role reports to the VP Strategy, Ops & Finance and provides business partnering support to the SGI business unit leaders. The SGI business units comprise of EAX (Origin, our subscription and our Player Network services), Competitive Gaming, EA Partners (Our 3rd party developer partnerships) and Asia Studios. The role will also have responsibility for the strategic financial planning & analysis modelling and support that benefits EA at the enterprise level.   

II. Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Establish yourself as a key advisor to business partners on financial matters. Become a sought out, value added resource and build strong partnerships to drive timely and accurate decisions while building institutional knowledge and trust.
  • Support business strategy development via financial analysis aimed at decision recommendation at the enterprise level. Build business models and decision support analysis for new business opportunities including but not limited to new partners, platforms, business models, or geographies. Present recommendations to senior Executives.
  • Lead and develop the team. Develop and communicate team-wide goals and objectives.  Responsible for setting and meeting deadlines, and deciding priorities as well as balancing resources.
  • Partner with the Corporate FP&A team to develop and maintain a long range strategic financial model consistent with EA’s strategic direction.
  • Lead the team through all aspects of the Fiscal Year planning process, quarterly forecast updates and weekly Outlook, Risks & Opportunities process for all SGI business units.
  • Lead other strategic financial projects and analysis as requested by VP Strategy, Ops & Finance

III. Technical Skills and Requirements

  • Views challenges as opportunities and is comfortable with initiating and driving change.
  • A team player, able to work collaboratively within the group and cross-functionally spanning business units/functions; and as an effective independent member.
  • Strong business acumen with understanding of functional linkages and ability to build strong professional relationships with business partners.
  • Ability to handle multiple and sometimes competing priorities; comfortable with multiple daily responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates tenacity and attention to detail. Highly motivated, passionate, self-starter. Initiates investigation of opportunities / issues and self-defines problem sets.
  • Proven managerial experience – hiring, managing, and developing staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Uses communication skills in negotiating with customers and influencing senior level leaders on significant matters.
  • Demonstrated top quartile performance in prior roles, with increasing levels of responsibility and independence.
  • Comfortable presenting and selling ideas & concepts to an SVP+ level audience.
  • Confidence to express viewpoint, actively listen to others and manage through conflict and politics to influence the business.
  • Has an up-to-date, broad knowledge of the industry, competitors, trends and latest news.
  • Evaluates uncertainty in complex situations and leads mitigation plan. Develops and deploys highly innovative solutions.
  • Leads enterprise wide projects with full discretion and autonomy as to chosen approach.
  • Proven ability to constructively challenge the status quo in an effort to continually drive improvement to business performance metrics.
  • Requires minimum of 10-12 years applicable experience plus college degree. MBA preferred.
