Star Wars Strategy Game Mobile Art Director

We are seeking an experienced Art Director to collaborate with key creative talent to design and deliver world-class mobile gameplay experiences.  This Art Director will have with strong experience in games development, specifically in the mobile space. The Art Director will head up a project art team to define and champion our visual style and work with design, product management, and tech to make sure we deliver the most appropriate and highest quality art possible. Once production starts, the Art Director will run daily reviews with the art leads and art directors, giving clear, constructive and inspirational feedback and guidance. A substantial amount of time will be dedicated to guiding the art team, ensuring the artists are following the visual style and delivering both on time and at the quality.

Role Requirements


Define art direction process and establish art vision for our mobile game using a data-driven approach

Ensure Art, Design, Product Management, and team leads are all in sync and agreement with art direction from initial concept through final asset delivery.

Development and well-being of the art team

Creation, maintenance, and enforcement of the style guide and other high-level documentation

Training of Leads in execution against the style guide

Ownership of fidelity and accuracy of all assets.

Instigate development best practices with Development Director to guarantee delivery of all assets

Work with marketing, PR and other internal and external partners to ensure art needs are met.

Work with external outsourcing partners to ensure assets hit style and quality targets.

Skills

Experience establishing and developing art vision for previous projects

Highly skilled 2D and/or 3D artist with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Art Direction for game development.

Ability and passion for getting hands-on to lead and show by example.

Familiarity with all aspects of the game artwork. Concept art, 2D, 3D, UI, animation and visual effects.

Significant experience using Maya/Max, Photoshop, Substance Painter, Z-brush, etc.

Self-motivated, with a good work ethic and a great team-player attitude.

Experienced in leading teams of artists – must have a good eye for detail and be able to give constructive feedback.

Ability to meet deadlines under tight schedules, a willingness to receive direction and a desire to work closely with a team.

Highly organized and possess good verbal and written communication skills.

Proven problem-solving and prototyping ability.

A strong understanding of anatomy, mechanical structure, and architecture.

A keen eye for light, color, shape, and silhouette, and a knowledge of how to use them.

Excellent skills at identifying existing visual styles, and ability to utilize them.

Experience developing games for the mobile market.

Familiarity with developing games off of strong existing IPs.
