Electronic Arts is looking for the most talented game developers in the world to join us in our mission to add to our expanding portfolio of mobile hits like FIFA, Madden, Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, and SimCity BuildIt.

 Our growing Mobile Studio “ Red Crow“ in Austin, Texas, is seeking an experienced UX Director to work on the upcoming launch of a new social strategy game, Star Wars: Rise to Power.

 In Star Wars: Rise to Power, any Star Wars fan can fight for their place as a Hero in the Galactic Wars, acquiring and deploying massive fleets of ships (from small stunt fighters to massive capital ships), iconic characters, and planetary bases, putting the galactic conflict directly into Players' hands.

 The ideal candidate is an exceptional Leader, fostering and mentoring an emerging Team of UX and UI designers. This role reports into the Studio GM, working with Product Management, Design and Art, defining the Experience Design vision of the game in close collaboration with UX researches, art directors, game designers/producers, UX designers, UI designers, UI engineers and other key stakeholders.

 You are the subject matter expert, balancing strategic and tactical direction to deliver an accessible, intuitive game with a focus on excellence to delight our Players.

 Leadership

  • Provide strong Design Leadership to the Studio -- both design strength and mentorship-- inspiring and motivating the UX/UI Team with enthusiasm and dedication
  • Drive a development culture of healthy accountability, maximizing potential and pride in accomplishments
  • Build an effective partnership with the Studio General Manager and Leadership Team, establishing trust and credibility with executive staff and stakeholders
  • Lead the UX/UI discipline, hire into and grow the discipline, provide regular coaching, mentorship and career development
  • Thrive in a fast-paced work environment requiring independent self-direction with an aptitude for Team collaboration and open communication

 Responsibilities

  • Drive Experience Design vision and strategy on the Team level while establishing business context
  • Lead Teams in framing and solving hard problems rooted in player data (quantitative and qualitative)
  • Drive innovative efforts that uncover new value with new kinds of experiences
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to set design priorities and find balanced solutions to complex player, business and technical challenges.
  • Integrate Experience Design process and methodologies to support player-centered game development
  • Provide Leadership in a fast-paced work environment requiring an aptitude for Team collaboration and open communication
  • Lead, Inspire, Mentor and Develop others on the Design Team

 Requirements

  • Degree in Interaction Design, Psychology, HCI or demonstrated proficiency and experiences in the field of user experience
  • +3 years leading and managing Design Teams
  • Advanced level of experience as a User Experience Designer, Interaction Designer, Interface Designer, Product Designer or similar role
  • Fluency in best practices for Interaction Design, user-centered design process, as well as strong knowledge of User Experience principles and techniques.
  • Advanced experience with user research methodologies and user data analysis (quantitative and qualitative)
  • Ability to lead a Team to effectively translate player data into design solutions and quickly iterate on them
  • Efficient and effective at presenting and rationalizing Design strategy and decisions to diverse audiences including executives, using these opportunities to educate and evangelize
  • Ability to work and teach across multiple cross-functional product teams, moving effortlessly between smallest details and highest-level strategy
  • Ability to be hands-on and deliver solutions to UI and UX challenges and deliverables
  • Passion for games
  • Experience in mobile game development required
  • Strong negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills
  • Communication skills -- both written and verbal -- critical
  • Servant Leadership a must
