External Description:

EA Sports is currently looking for a Data Engineer to help support our current reporting requests for the Tiburon titles.  This position will provide a variety of engineering tasks in order to support the growing number of technical requirements related to the reporting and analysis of game performance, player behavior, and business health metrics.  The ideal candidate should possess knowledge and experience for end-to-end efforts related to application development and database development including but not limited to data capture, collection, storage, transformation, aggregation, and data validation.   The candidate may also be asked to perform minor data analysis, generating reports through a third party tool such as Excel, Tableau, or a software equivalent be able to present their conclusions and recommendations to key stake holders.

 

Skills:

 

Programming:  SQL, C# or an equivalent object oriented programming language i.e. Java, VB.NET, or C++

Database:  MySQL and/or MS SQL Server

Reporting/Analysis Tools: Excel or a software equivalent 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Help with monitoring and maintaining the existing systems and ETL processes as it pertains to data integrity, availability, and quality.
  • Design, model and develop data sets to support reporting and analytics. Build systems to answer business questions in a timely fashion.
  • Recognizing and managing technical dependencies and/or limitations that impact analytic work.
  • Design, definition, development and testing of enterprise telemetry systems.  Meet with key stakeholders to gather and assess requirements, validate proposed requests and priorities, and facilitate development.
  • ETL development: Performing all aspects of programming assignments, and assists with systems design.  This may include creating configuration files including SQL files for extracting game data from various data sources.
  • Generate Ad-Hoc SQL queries and reports based on business requirements.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a business intelligence or data engineering role.
  • 2-5 years programming experience in C# or an equivalent object oriented programming language.
  • 2-5 years development experience with MySQL or MS SQL Server.
  • Experience collecting data points from various distributed platforms.
  • Experience processing massive data on distributed platforms.
  • Experience with performance optimizations at database and application level.
  • Debug/investigate issues with automated data flows and ETLs.
  • Able to handle a fast-paced environment and proactively address unforeseen problems.
  • Excellent at teamwork, communication, flexible and very able to do multi-tasking.

 

Bonus Skills:

 

  • Experience with Big Data
  • Experience in using 3rd party analytic party reporting systems i.e. Tableau
  • Expertise with visualization, data mining, and statistical analysis tools
  • Experience with Teradata SQL
  • Experience with Amazon RedShift SQL
  • Experience with Hadoop HIVE
