Summary:

PopCap is seeking a Game Designer who can develop content, implement, and refine features for one of our beloved live mobile games, staying true to PopCap’s values and commitment to quality. This position will be responsible for executing new features that deliver on the creative vision from initial concept to release. This position will support all facets of development by creating, documenting, and communicating all aspects of feature design, and collaborating with the team to deliver success from a player experience standpoint as well as the product's business goals.

What you’ll do:

  • Communicate the design of the game, articulating the “why” behind the “what.”
  • Design features and content in alignment with the overall game vision.
  • Be a champion of good ideas.
  • Write clear specs, move them through the pipeline, and keep them accurate.
  • Work closely with a feature team (aka “pod”) to prepare for execution.
  • Prioritize features in the pod backlog.
  • Use tools in-build to add, configure, debug, or refine game content.
  • Listen to feedback from players and react accordingly.
  • Lead play-tests, brainstorms, and post-mortems to enhance learning.
  • Work with all disciplines to find the best path forward.
  • Stay current with industry methods, trends, and news.

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • Passion for crafting amazing gaming experiences for the mobile platform!
  • A personality that is motivating to work with, described as open-minded, purposeful, respectful, calm, and candid.
  • Self-motivated, strong creative identity, imagination, and holistic game design skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented approach to your work.
  • Experience with freemium/F2P design, including microtransactions and virality.
  • Proven ability to write, communicate and maintain detailed design documentation throughout the game’s life cycle.
  • Expert understanding of gameplay mechanics and system, especially in casual games.
  • Knowledge of the game industry, trends, competition, platforms, and market.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively at the team, studio, and organization levels.
  • Aptitude for scripting, Unity, and custom authoring tools.
  • 5+ years of game design experience within casual and/or mobile space with shipped titles.
