What you will do

  • Hands-on development delivering NodeJS & Java applications
  • Working with GraphQL and Apollo server
  • Actively collaborate with your Engineering peers and Technical Director in defining and disseminating a technical architecture, developer experience, publishing workflow and release pipeline.
  • Be part of a ~20 person cross functional scrum team (Product Management, Project Management, Software Engineering, Quality Engineering, Operations, Live Service Support)
  • Work directly with Product Management, Project Management and Technical leaders throughout the entire software lifecycle - from concept to design to development to release to sunset
  • Scout, evaluate and present to the team new technology and tools as opportunities for innovation and development excellence
  • Use your knowledge of software engineering concepts to design and implement tested, reusable, and modular code
  • Apply knowledge of the business goals to derive innovative solutions for the project, team, and group
  • Harness your desire to deeply understand the WHY behind the functional requirements, identifying problems and devising solutions
  • Be passionate about non-functional requirements and embody the value of these in your actions
  • Be an active learner who expands your breadth of knowledge on a continual basis
  • Employ your entrepreneurial attitude and drive that facilitates the delivery of high-quality projects in a timely fashion

Skills and experience

  • Significant experience and knowledge in one or more backend server languages such as NodeJS, Java 8, Go, Scala, and Kotlin
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or 2+ years relevant work experience
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles and design patterns
  • Experience with dependency management, build & release and automation tools such as npm, Maven, SBT, npm, etc
  • Familiarity with a modern Java or Node framework such as Koa, Express, Play, Spring, Dropwizard, etc
  • Experience building REST APIs and services
  • Experience working in a cross functional Scrum team
  • Experience building platform-grade tools and services
  • Experience with caching techniques and different caching systems
  • Experience using Git and related tools like GitHub, Bitbucket, Git-LFS, etc
  • Familiarity with client-side development; you can find your away around HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Experience writing various fidelities of technical documentation from high level approach to detailed design.

Bonus Skills and experience

  • Experience with client-side web development - HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with TechOps / infrastructure systems - Amazon Web Services, Chef and Jenkins
