Responsibilities

EA Global Analytics and Insights Technology team is looking for an engineer who believes in the power of data and will help us unlock that power to streamline our analytics operation. We’re looking for someone with enthusiasm for wrangling data pipelines and building and maintaining a solid, scalable data infrastructure that will fit within the larger EA data platform. The successful candidate will play a key role in enabling our analysts and data scientists to focus on creating reports, models and data visualizations that deliver stunning insights to propel our player communications and relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, model, develop and maintain large, complex, often messy data sets to support exploratory analysis, ad-hoc reporting, statistical model-building, and dashboards
  • Play a lead role in technical design and ongoing development of custom ETL solutions, driving continuous improvement in design and delivery standards; understanding and contributing from design through to code level
  • Partner with internal technical and non-technical teams to understand requirements, evaluate options, develop roadmaps and ensure Marketing Analytics needs are addressed in a complex, dynamic multi-stakeholder data environment
  • Act as technical lead for enterprise data visualization platform to enable analysts to focus on creating and deploying robust data visualizations
  • Support analysts by leveraging APIs to enhance and automate data pipelines
  • Develop and deploy systems to ensure quality, reliability, and efficiency of data systems; not only large but also, critically, small-medium data sources with high variety and/or velocity requiring cleaning, wrangling, merging, and manipulation in order to extract full value
  • Build data tools/products to suit the specific needs of Marketing Analytics and our stakeholders
  • Position Marketing Analytics for future success by investigating, recommending, and adopting emerging data technologies

Skills and education

  • University degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Experience in both architecture and implementation-level software design
  • Experience in the physical and logical design of database architecture for relational databases and data warehouses, including database optimization, data replication, database recovery, DR failover and H/A solutions and performance tuning
  • Familiarity with distributed computing using a cloud based tech stack on platforms such as AWS and Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience in requirements capture, analysis techniques and process improvement approaches
  • Familiarity in the development of software using a wide variety of object oriented languages (i.e. R, Python (at minimum), C#, Java, etc.) and relational DBs (SQL, My SQL, etc.) and data warehouses (Redshift, Apache Hive, Snowflake, Google BigQuery)
  • Familiarity working with REST APIs, for example YouTube analytics, Twitch, Google Analytics
  • Experience with digital analytics measurement and experimentation systems such as Google Tag Manager, Tealium, Optimizely
  • Experience creating informative and interpretable data visualizations using tools such as R Shiny, Tableau, Dundas, Qlikview, etc.
  • Excellent personal organization, ability to prioritize, proactively drive projects through to completion
