The Challenge Ahead

The EA - FIFA team is searching for a Development Director to help us deliver FIFA, the most popular video game in the world. A game like FIFA consists of many features, and a Development Director is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of one or more game features, on time, and within budget. The DD oversees the project schedule, hiring, and manages the team to deliver to an excellent standard. 

Responsibilities

Project Management:

  • Responsible for successful delivery of one or more FIFA game features. On time and within budget.
  • Collaborates with colleagues / peers in Romania – Bucharest and Canada - Vancouver
  • Sends weekly status reports to inform the management and the team on progress of the project
  • Prioritizes tasks, identifies dependencies, assess risks, removes blockers and balances the business needs versus technical constraints
  • Manages a development team which generally consists of Software Engineers, Animators, Artists, and/or Designers
  • Works across FIFA development teams to lock down requirements and specifications while keeping track of effort and capacity
  • Anticipates bottlenecks, provides management escalation, and prioritizes based on urgency and as well as cost / benefit
  • Tracks and implements project improvement plans to drive team efficiency and quality improvements through post-mortem project evaluations
  • Identifies, mitigates and drives all risks and issues towards resolution, while maintaining a clear and effective communication

 People Management:

  • Ensures goals and objectives for the team and team members are set and aligned with company objectives and values
  • Ensures timely update of personnel administration for the team (vacation, sick days, overtime, etc)
  • Conducts regular one-to-ones to allow team members to raise issues, questions, achievements, and follow up on the goals and objectives
  • Encourages individual development with training and educational programs
  • Provides consistent and timely feedback as a key development tool
  • Conducts annual performance review preparation (calibration) with peers and management, and holds annual performance evaluation with team members
  • Ensures team members are recognized and rewarded for their performance and achievements
  • Ensures team satisfaction and motivation, which is measured through surveys, is at or above company targets.
  • Resolves any issues, disputes within the team in a collaborative way

 What are we looking for?

A Development Director must have minimum 3-5 years Project Manager or Project Lead experience, and 3-4 years of people management experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following areas: Computer Science, Game Production/Development, Business, etc. A Master’s degree is a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), tools, and processes
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Visio, bug tracking tools (e.g. DevTrack, JIRA), project management tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Hansoft)
  • Experience working on console development would be a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in working with broad cross-functional teams.
  • Strong negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution skills
  • Effective communication skills across all levels of an organization
  • English is a must
  • Team player
