Position Title: Senior Manager, Accounting

Key responsibilities

The Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting will have a broad range of responsibilities involving the monthly close, quarterly earnings preparation and developing process efficiencies.  As an individual who will promote excellence throughout EA, this role involves a number of important responsibilities as follows:

Management/Development

  • Manage 4 full time accounting professionals
  • Hire, coach, retain and evaluate talented individuals. Assess performance and provide quarterly feedback to staff
  • Lead in the identification and development of future leaders

 Close Process

  • Oversee the U.S. accounting close process including financial statement review and analysis from both U.S. GAAP and management reporting perspectives
  • Provide accounting business partner support; act as primary liaison to selected business groups across finance (i.e., FPA, SEC Reporting, Revenue, AR, etc.) and HR.
  • Lead the coordination of accounting responsibilities between onshore and offshore accounting teams
  • Manage accounting for FX revaluation, translation and business acquisitions
  • Review the preparation of a number of monthly reconciliations and journal entries
  • Manage the recording and settlement of inter-company transactions between the company and its international subsidiaries

Global Consolidation & Reporting

  • Lead in providing a high level of customer service within finance and to other business partners
  • Manage the accounting consolidation of the company and its international subsidiaries
  • Review, understand and challenge the internally prepared monthly fluctuation analyses prepared by local teams and business units.
  • Manage the preparation of the monthly consolidated financial statements with commentary on fluctuations from prior periods and company estimates. Present at the monthly close meetings
  • Assist in the quarterly earnings release process

 Technical Accounting

  • Prepare memos/whitepapers on accounting issues
  • Evaluate the impact of emerging technical accounting issues, manage adoption and implementation
  • Review and provide accounting conclusions on EA’s vendor agreements

 Audits and Projects

  • Manage the coordination of U.S. financial statement audit and reviews, including the preparation of audit schedules
  • Spend a portion of time on projects (e.g., globally aligning EA’s accounting practices, improving documentation, building more robust analytical reporting)
  • A portion of the role will include leading other special projects as assigned
  • Develop and maintain SOX documentation as they relate to Close to Consolidation, Finance and Investing controls

 Technical skills and experience

  • BS or MS in Accounting or equivalent
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • > 9 years relevant financial accounting experience, including team management experience. Industry experience is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP (incl. foreign exchange, derivatives, business combinations, expense recognition)
  • Working knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002
  • Effective time management, work prioritization and delegation skills
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Oracle and Hyperion Financial Management a plus
