Position Title: Manager Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to join the Shared Components, Quality Technology (SCQ-T) team, a division of Central Development Services, in EA Vancouver. 

The Software Engineering Manager will be responsible for planning and delivery of multiple online services, in collaboration with key partners to deliver technical solutions to facilitate their products / services development. The SCQ-T team has team members and partners in EA Vancouver, EA Redwood Shores, EA Madrid, EA Romania, and EA Hyderabad. Successful execution requires alignment of schedules and requirements between other CDS teams, other partner teams, and EA's EAX team.

The Software Engineering Manager will partner with the Technical Leads as well as internal stakeholders to review and refine requirements, then work with the Development team to develop designs, execution, and delivery plans, then track and coordinate the development, delivery, and successful adoption of our technology by the users. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

General

  • Lead the planning and delivery of online services and their integration to internal stakeholders
  • Balance goals and roadmaps with estimates and capacity constraints to deliver the best plan possible
  • Work with development team and internal stakeholders (partner teams, product teams, users, etc) to refine requirements for development
  • Manage the development plan, schedule, and process for multiple simultaneous projects, including tasks, resources, quality, time, priorities, and costs
  • Identify and resolve risks to the delivery of quality products
  • Coordinate releases, including tracking bug/quality metrics, and ensuring alignment of schedules with stakeholders and other dependent groups
  • Work with the other team leads to constantly refine and improve our processes

Process Management

  • Manage Agile/Scrum mechanics and promote principles & values in conjunction with other team leads
  • Track team objectives and identify required actions
  • Create and distribute regular reports and updates on team’s activities
  • Drive quality standards through code reviews and design approvals
  • Drive the implementation plan which includes deliverables, schedule, priorities, and dependencies
  • Lead team to deliver high quality code and debug across multiple components while dealing with related external dependencies
  • Document tools and practices and participate actively in knowledge sharing processes. Share best practices and learn from other team members and peers

Relationship Management

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Working with the team's Technical Director to execute on technical strategy
  • Maintain strong team communication and collaboration across five geographical locations
  • Promote positive morale and a sense of team identity

Technical Support

  • Hands-on work related to the configuration and maintenance of our systems as required
  • Working with teams in multiple world-wide locations and Technical Director to identify ways to improve the products and services

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software engineering or equivalent 
  • Requirements specification or design experience
  • Experience managing distributed teams
  • Experience developing sharable technology products such as SDKs or platforms.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience and/or education + experience as a Software Engineer
  • Excellent knowledge in developing applications in C#, Java, and/or web technologies
  • Working knowledge of Power BI data visualization application
  • Expert knowledge of software development lifecycle, modern testing methods, design patterns, continuous integration, and Agile methodology
  • Demonstrated ability to run meetings involving core team as well as internal stakeholders 
  • Experience managing security escalations and concerns
