We are looking for a talented UI Engineer to join an established, experienced team of developers working on a AAA Star Wars title in development at Motive Vancouver.  This is an opportunity to join a veteran team and help craft the vision and execution of a compelling, innovative and immersive Star Wars experience. We are using the cutting-edge Frostbite Engine to deliver innovative technologies and pushing the boundaries of player expectations.

 

Role: Lead UI Engineer

An ideal candidate will have professional knowledge of UI systems used in game development. You will have general experience with game engine editors, pipelines, user interfaces, and tool design. You will work closely with Artists, Designers & Engineers to help design & architect UI systems, workflows, screens and HUD elements for major features for the product. You will be responsible for managing a small team of UI Engineers to deliver on the vision of the Presentation Director.

 

Expectations:

  • Help bring the vision of the Presentation Director to life
  • Design and develop new tools & workflows for UI designers & artists
  • Work with the Frostbite team to integrate latest tools/technology from the Engine
  • Work with UI Artists, Designers, and Gameplay SEs to support UI features
  • Profile and optimize solutions to address performance bottlenecks on current hardware
  • Architect solutions that can be live updated in a game post-launch
  • Work with the Frostbite Engine and Frostbite Team to develop shareable code and interface correctly with the engine
  • Help manage and lead the UI team to achieve the goals of the team

 

Required Technical Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience
  • 10+ years of games development experience with 3+ years in a related role
  • Experience with Data-driven Game Engines
  • Experience with current console hardware & TRCs/TCRs
  • Passion for World Class workflows for game engines
  • Strong proficiency with C++
  • Experience with C# & WPF a bonus
  • Experience with Agile development philosophies
  • Experience with Unit testing frameworks a bonus
  • Capable of responding to Code Review feedback and deliver quality Code Review feedback
  • Knowledge of source code management: Perforce is preferred 
  • Expertise in other areas of game engines: Gameplay, Animation, Rendering, Audio, Camera a bonus
