The Competitive Gaming Division (CGD) is built around creating highly engaging competitive events that celebrate our community, and broadcasting the spectacle of competition to millions to people around the world. Competition runs deep in the DNA of Electronic Arts, and our games are already at the center of competitive gaming events at different levels today. EA’s CGD will seek to build a best-in-class program to centralize our efforts with new events, as well as the infrastructure to bring you the world’s preeminent EA competitive experiences. We’ve built a robust competitive ecosystem in just a few years and are now expanding both the scope of our titles and scale of our competitive events and are looking for a Strategy Manager to help us maintain our velocity.

 

Responsibilities

  • This role will work closely with the Director of Business Strategy and greater CGD team to complete strategic projects and plans, synthesize analyses into key findings and actionable recommendations, and then to drive the organization to execute. They will assist in developing the division’s global business strategy in addition to business development targets.
  • Helping to drive long-range strategic business plans for the division, tactical plans to achieve the division’s goals and objectives and providing quarterly reports around the state of the business.
  • Evaluates strategic business opportunities: partnerships, acquisitions, alliances and/or joint ventures that fit within the overall division strategy, business plan and product portfolio
  • Engages in business development activities supporting partner activities
  • Role includes establishing and maintaining partner business relationships, business case development, and contract management as well as deep interaction with product development, central technology, legal, brand partnerships, business affairs, and marketing.
  • Ensures performance standards are maintained both externally and internally
  • Maintains highly informed, current and comprehensive commercial perspective on key market dynamics and emerging trends
  • Full ownership of deck creation, research, and presentations to CGD leadership on clearly defined briefs and projects
  • Serve as a Competitive Gaming functional expert and bring that knowledge to teams that mesh with the overall division objectives and goals.

Key Requirements

  • 4+ years in business development, business strategy, product management, and/or strategic consulting.
  • 2+ years of esports and video game industry experience with a proven history of success
  • A passion for esports and competitive gaming
  • Ability to travel extensively
  • Proven track-record of success working across functions in a matrix environment, with strong ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the demonstrated ability to make effective presentations to a broad range of audiences
  • Self-starter, ability to prioritize and organize a high-volume workflow and follow a project through to completion with a high attend to detail
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize
  • Must possess a strong sense of urgency with the desire to make things happen
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities and is recognized as a driver of ongoing projects
  • Able to apply solid strategic analysis when addressing problems and determining a course of action
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, MBA a plus
