External Description:

Your Team

Step into the world of Quality Engineering, where our group has one vision: we enable predictable development by driving quality ‘by design.’ This means we help produce stronger and cleaner code, robust and reliable tools, and creative new processes that push our development teams and our games to new heights. We are quality visionaries and we want you to lead us as our new Quality Engineering Development Manager.

As a Development Manager, you will work with multiple groups by being the interface between Quality Engineering and the game teams. You will provide a consistent and productive team of Quality Engineers to the teams that need them. You will also work with other leadership members so we can build a consistent approach to Quality Engineering within EA.

Ultimately, you will help ensure a successful project release by utilizing tools in software project management to help your team meet deadlines, prioritize effectively, and face challenges with creativity and innovation.

What You Will Achieve at EA

Team Direction:

As the process driver for your individual contributors, you will guide the agile based software development lifecycle for the Quality Engineering team, including coordinating appropriate meetings (sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily standups, retrospectives) as required based on the SDLC in play (Scrum or Kanban). You will also ensure that data in project software tools is consistently updated (e.g. Jira, DevTrack, Hansoft, Confluence, etc.)

You will also support people management by ensuring your team feels motivated, encouraged, and clear on their responsibilities and impact. This may include performing day to day team direction, and working with the reporting manager during staff evaluations.

Project Planning:

You will define the detailed plan for any given quarter. Prior to the initiation of the quarter, you will carry out a detailed analysis of the development project plan and work out appropriate project goals with partners. We will also track projects mid-flight, which will include tracking and evaluating and assessing risks to the project. As such, you will prioritize when deadlines are a concern, handle and mitigate risks, and plan for contingencies.

Project Reporting:

Liaising with multiple partners, you will be a master at communicating project status on a regular cadence and in a variety of formats. This will include detailed project updates, reports and presenting to teams. You will also be responsible for regularly validating that the information communicated, the cadence, and the report format meet the needs of all your partners.
