We are looking for a Game Engineer to join our new mobile team in Austin, Texas working on a new MMO strategy game, Star Wars: Rise to Power.  

ROLE 

Upon joining the Star Wars: Rise to Power Team, you’ll immediately start working with the existing team to create and support new features – interacting with live services, building code for high performance servers, and creating user-facing code on various platforms.  We’re looking for a highly motivated and experienced engineer ready to dive into building and debugging features in the game – working with a team of developers, designers, and content creators to deliver against an exciting and challenging new Star Wars Game Experience! 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

As a Senior Game Engineer, you will: 

• Partner with other team members, foster a culture of best practices and collaborative architectural decisions 

• Mentor other team members, create/maintain an onboarding program, and support code reviews and architectural deep dives 
• Work with the team to help define and build new features based on design documents 
• Generate accurate estimates for the development of new features 
• Apply debugging skills to both familiar and unfamiliar sections of code to reduce defects 
• Be a key member of the engineering community – programmer meetings, group chats, code reviews, post-mortems 

• Embrace a problem-solving mindset – avoid over-engineering and under-engineering to find the perfect balance 
• Don’t settle for 80% – strive for a high-quality product and commit to “DONE” – and help your teammates do the same

QUALIFICATIONS 

• BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience 
• 8+ years development experience with game development, multithreaded programming, and/or large/complex codebases 
• Mastery of Object-Oriented Design 
• Mobile development experience 
• Experience building applications in Unity 

• Experience building scalable systems and an ability to demonstrate architecture and design skills 
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language 
• Comfortable working with cloud-based systems and/or local servers, web-based protocols, REST APIs, sockets 

 

PLUSES  

• Experience with Python, Javascript 
• Proficiency in 3D math 
• Experience with Unity UI development (building game/app UI with Unity) 
• Objective C
