PvZ Franchise - Senior Creative Director 

We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Franchise Creative Director for the PvZ Franchise at EA.  This is an opportunity to join a veteran team and help craft the vision and execution of  compelling and high quality PvZ experiences and products.  You will act as a guiding force for the PvZ Franchise across the development and brand teams. As the PvZ Franchise - Senior Creative Director, excellent communication and collaboration skills are a must, as is the ability to cultivate creativity and collaborate both with internal dev teams and external partners. The ideal candidate must have strong creative chops – someone who has spent a lot of time and is fluent across creative mediums.  Ideally this person will have experience across a few of these areas:  art/art direction, content, digital, creative writing, social, business development, publishing, etc.

 

Expectations:

Brand standards & guidelines

  • Be the guardian/vision keeper of all storytelling and creative expressions of the brand
  • Create and manage creative/style guides, tone of voice docs, PvZ brand standards and guidelines as a resource for game teams, as well as internal and external partners and establish best practices for governance to implement across dev teams and licensors working on the PvZ brand.
  • Create and manage an archive/library of franchise materials including games, consumer products, etc. to be a resource for game teams, partners.
  • Perform creative audit to identify discrepancies and provide solutions to align; regularly partner with games and brand teams to ensure guidance + ensure that territorial specificities are taken into account to ensure success in the various market (ex: China).
  • Ensure quality and leverage consistency across external partner products & brand creative deliverables

 

Collaboration / Partnership

  • Coordinate with studio / projects creative design & art directors and brand team to ensure consistency across games, and other internal products
  • Serve as a coach and mentor resource to Creative directors and Craft Directors regarding brand knowledge.
  • Partner with brand marketing team to define long-term brand vision, brand identity and creative direction that ensure consistency in messaging across all player touchpoints.
  • Build a collaborative relationship with various products teams for the various PvZ products, games and promotional initiatives.
  • Manage creative services for franchise non-game projects
  • Serve as a project liaison with internal and external partners, licensors, and intellectual property developers as needed to ensure consistency of character, story and world.
  • Highly effective collaborator with GBM, Studio, GCM and other key cross functional teams to create and develop new business opportunities.
  • Support the Studio & Business Unit leadership and drive the delivery of the overall long term PvZ Franchise Roadmap .

 

Requirements:

  • 10+ years industry experience working as a creative in the entertainment industry.
  • 5+ years of experience leading the creative on family or youth targeted media.
  • Broad knowledge of art direction, game design.
  • Additional areas of expertise – business development, account management, creative services management and game development experience are a plus.
  • Communication skills -- both written and verbal -- are absolutely critical. 

o    Must be able to evangelize the vision for the studio and its projects both within and across EA. Experience with public speaking, a plus.

o    Need to have excellent listening skills and the ability to drive constructive conflict.  Need to create an environment where projects creatives are empowered and engaged and yet focused on delivering against the vision of what the brand stands for. 

  • Welcomes feedback and criticism, and enjoys working in a collaborative, iterative, and agile process.
  • Is highly organized, and is able to break down complex problems into consumable and actionable pieces for others.
  • Able to conceptualize, create, and implement brand concepts using various tools and technologies.
  • Experience working with research departments to define tests and interpret data to effectively iterate on design.
