Position Title: Sr Software Engineer I

External Description:

The EA Sports NHL series is a critically acclaimed sports video game franchise that has received numerous accolades over the past 20 years. The team is comprised of passionate, talented people that strive to create and deliver the most realistic simulation hockey experience available on the market today.

Joining the NHL team would afford the candidate an opportunity to work on industry leading animation technology, as well as to interact with industry leaders across EA.

Role: Gameplay Animation/Physics Engineer

The Gameplay Animation/Physics Engineer role will involve working with proprietary technology to help drive animation, physics, and gameplay features.

The successful candidate will need excellent leadership skills, as well as the ability to develop elegant solutions to complicated animation challenges. 

Key Responsibilities:
• Design and develop animation and gameplay features.
• Improve and maintain the engine’s physics systems.
• Contribute to industry leading innovation in the animation domain.
• Help to portray the speed and skill of hockey in the 3D game world.
• Leverage industry experience to create unique and captivating gameplay experiences.

Required Technical Skills and Experience:

• 2 – 5 years of industry experience in animation and physics.
• 2+ Years of C/C++ Experience (preferably in the games industry).
• Industry experience shipping titles on XBOX 360, XBOX One, PS3 or PS4.
• Passion for the sport of Hockey.
• Deep understanding of animation techniques and approaches.
• Solid foundation in 3D mathematics.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to a fast paced, cyclical software development cycle.

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative team environment.
• Constantly innovate how to improve product quality as well as group productivity.
• Excellent decision-making capabilities.
• Ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts, principles and solutions.
