Position Title: Sr Director, Research

External Description:

User Experience Research is a critical element to user-centered design and drives many of the design decisions behind great gaming experiences. The Director, UX Research will design and implement user experience research programs, lead a team of researchers and managers, oversee related budgets, and deliver findings to key studio partners. Reporting to the VP of Research, this person will have demonstrated experience leading a team and delivering business impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 50+ people in varying roles including UX researchers, lab techs and operations managers. Coach, grow, give feedback to direct & indirect reports
  • Increase strategic impact of UX Research at EA by assessing organizational needs, improving team capabilities and influencing change through UX Research
  • Drive change across the team while delivering the research plan
  • Lead relevant and timely research that drives business outcomes in product development
  • Partner with Analytics, Data Science and Consumer Insights leaders to find ways to improve team collaboration and enrich insights leveraging player data
  • Manage relationships with leaders across EA’s development organization including studio GMs, producers, designers, QA
  • Present findings to a broad variety of stakeholders in a clear way
  • Oversee 8 UX labs across EA’s global studios


Attributes

  • Experience leading a large, global team. Strong leadership & coaching abilities.
  • Background in UX Research, Game Design or Game Production
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people from individual UX Researchers to Studio GMs
  • Able to define and execute on a vision for a team
  • Experience defining scope to solve complex problems or situations and demonstrated ability to develope and execute project plans to deliver results
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams
  • Ability to structure and deliver presentations clearly, crisply, and compellingly. Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Self-starter with passion, energy, enthusiasm to drive results and affect meaningful change
  • Able to travel frequently and able to relate to people from many different cultures, backgrounds, and skill sets respectfully

Background

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree a plus
  • 10+ years’ experience in UX Research, Game Design or Game Production, 5 years leading teams
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team in a matrix environment
  • English language proficiency required, proficiency in another language preferred
