Position Title: Software Engineer II

Electronic Arts’ Firemonkeys Studio in Melbourne, Australia is highly regarded throughout the industry as a leader in delivering high quality, engaging games on iOS and Android.  We release new meaningful updates on a regular basis for our live mobile games such as Real Racing 3, Sims FreePlay, Need for Speed Most Wanted, and more.

We’re looking for highly talented and dedicated software engineers/programmers who thrive in fast paced, ever changing development environments. As a software engineer you’ll be an integral member of the team which ultimately delivers on games to satisfy our hard core and casual gamers.  We’re looking for emotionally intelligent people with a can do attitude.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide ownership of more than one area of the game with responsibility to determining technical design, partnering with other core team members to understand needs and determine best solutions.
  • Provide general peer mentorship within immediate team, and provide mentorship/guidance to engineers who interact or develop with the key areas of the game your responsible.
  • Programming applications for the mobile devices using C++, Objective C and LUA
  • Writing and implementing tools for creation of mobile device applications using C#
  • Extending functionality of existing tools and Autodesk Maya using C# and MEL Script
  • Working under direction from the Technical Director on your project
  • Working within a small, motivated team and communicating effectively within that team as well as outwardly when required
  • Programming within all areas of game development, including, but not limited to:
    • Maths and 3D graphics
    • Game engines
    • User interface
    • Special effects
    • SDK

Skills and experience

  • Eight or more years of professional programming experience
  • Excellent C/C++, C# and LUA programming skills
  • Exceptional maths skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of rendering pipelines and game engine technology
  • Ability to work within a schedule
  • Ability to work with and extend existing code
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Experience leading a small team in a very dynamic environment would be advantageous
  • Programming experience in the game industry would be advantageous
