Job Summary

The Director of Quality Assurance is responsible for providing organizational and strategic direction to the Quality Assurance teams, for multiple projects at Respawn Entertainment.

In conjunction with Respawn's department and project leaders you will support and enable the teams to provide great player experiences to our fans through continuous improvement of our quality development practices.

The key activities are Strategic Planning, Organizing, Directing, Monitoring and Coaching the QA & Operations teams with a focus on the Managers. All department directors ensure project & Respawn Studio success through delivery of world class systems and content, in the development of some of the best Games in the World.

What a Director of QA at Respawn does:

Your primary objective will be managing the vision and strategy of Respawn QA teams. As a senior spokesperson for the studio in various external and internal settings, you will partner with business leaders to provide appropriate operational business solutions. You must be proficient at inspiring and advocating continuous improvement, operational efficiency and change at a studio level.

The majority of your time will be focused on strategic, operational process and team management initiatives. The below breakdown should paint a clear picture of the various areas of responsibility for this key role:

Primary Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Leverages cross-function / studio opportunities, by building and reinforcing interdepartmental relationships through excellence in communication.
  • Coaching / Mentoring, with a focus on senior leaders.
    Drive Evolution of QA practices across Respawn Games and EA as whole.

Primary Operational Responsibilities:

  • Manage budget planning and headcount requisitions.
  • Overseeing overall project risk assessment and status communication to studio leadership as required.
  • Responsible for planning, strategizing and implementing QA systems and processes to accomplish strategic goals of the organization.
  • Identify and promote industry best practices by partnering with the studio development discipline leaders on quality development practices.
  • Fully partner with project teams to ensure people and processes deliver on project objectives.
  • Collaborate with Project Directors to support projects with resource requirements, scheduling and risks.
  • Driving effective processes usage within the across the project QA & Central Operations teams, ensuring processes and workflows are well implemented, understood and followed by the organization across all Respawn QA Teams.
  • Planning and communicating studio-wide processes adoption (PMO).

Primary People Management (team) Responsibilities:

  • Owning and driving succession planning and talent management within the assigned teams.
  • Building strong leaders that will build strong teams.
  • Developing QA talent pool through perceptive recruiting and cross-team movement.
  • Exploring innovative organizational structures in response to changing business needs.
  • Driving long term recruiting initiatives for hiring the best possible people.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with (10+ years) Game development experience and leading teams through full project lifecycle.
  • Proven experience in managing and developing large teams.
  • Strong Understanding of Software Quality Assurance Practices.
  • Background in game development is required.
  • Solid business acumen, preferably within a large or global company.
  • Excellent Strong Problem Identification and Solving Ability (Complex, Fuzzy).
  • Focused on continuous improvement.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Self-starter who can identify and solve problems.
