DevQA Analyst - NBA Team

We are EA!
And we make games – how cool is that? In fact, we entertain millions of people across the globe with the most amazing and immersive interactive software in the industry. But making games is hard work. That’s why we employ the most creative, passionate people in the industry.

DevQA Analyst (NBA Team)
The Mission of Development QA is to be a fully integrated part of Product Development, focused on ensuring we “build it right the first time”. We accomplish this by focusing on defect prevention behaviors that help deliver finished threads to the game at first implementation of the feature, content or component, and whenever rework is required, we champion a low tolerance for technical debt, employing defect containment behaviors that minimize those bugs which escape to mainline and drive prioritization of addressing known issues in game at the top of the list of product development in all phases.
We do this because it will ensure we have a codebase that is nearly always ready for release to our customers, making the focus during development the quality & polish of the features, and ensuring the overall feature set of the product package will delight our customers when we do release to market.

DevQA Analysts are focused on delivering the DevQA mission, meaning increasingly upstream, preventive tactical behaviors, while influencing and effecting positive change not just in their assigned tasks, but in the overall development workflow and all people that surround those tasks, as well as the finished product overall.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct QA activities upstream and “under the hood” of the code base, focused on ensuring the highest possible quality of initial code delivery and minimal technical debt accumulation occurs.
  • Practice an advanced use and manipulation of test tools (or driving the vision/concept for new tools that have been developed/acquired)
  • Driving the automation strategy in new and unique ways that enhance the ROI it generates
  • In early phase design, ensuring robust and comprehensive concepts are created as a foundation to strong technical & test implementation
  • At feature implementation & during re-work, conducting thorough pre-integration passes to ensure a fully featured, finished thread is being delivered to mainline
  • Directing QA efforts on identifying balance and tuning challenges and driving their resolution to improve product quality and/or revenue
  • Leveraging real user analytics to drive improved QA strategies that focus on improving key features and user paths

Preferred qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Testing Tools, Processes, QA Standards.
  • Knowledge of Console / Mobile platforms and familiarity with Compliance requirements.
  • Reporting skills – is able to pull data, create and manage reports from relevant Databases.
  • Issue reporting skills, ability to spot & correct mistakes.
  • Basic understanding of the interaction between QA/Certification/1st Party/Legal partners.
  • Familiarity with a project’s development life cycle, milestone requirements and QA’s role at each stage.
