EA SPORTS is seeking a Contract Data Analyst (Online Game Security) to own the support of high quality online Madden & NBA Live gameplay experiences by predicting, monitoring, investigating, and reacting to online security issues.  The analyst will play the role of a lead detective through querying game data for exploitive behavior and reacting quickly to real-time events.  We are seeking candidates that are motivated, proactive, detail oriented, and have experience with SQL databases to continue to help us improve gameplay experience for the customers in a fast paced work environment. 

This position will have a major impact on the customers’ online gameplay experiences by maintaining the front line of defense for security-related issues.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct cyber intelligence operations including intelligence collection (especially indicators of compromise/IOCs), tracking threat actors, identifying and tracking malicious assets and infrastructure
  • Respond to research requests from EA internal customers with timely and accurate assessments
  • Proactively research relevant threats and produce reports and intelligence products.
  • Support prototyping and continuous development/integration of tools to store, exchange, and analyze threat and incident data
  • Work closely with customer service, communications, quality assurance, the development team, and game analysts to support and resolve issues
  • Identify existing and new online security holes and work closely with security engineers and game analysts to identify potential solutions
  • Maintain documentation on security, exploitative behavior, and actions performed
  • Prepare weekly reports of security, game metrics, and actions to stakeholders
  • Define new data and metrics requirements for engineers and game analysts to implement to further enhance investigative efforts surrounding the general security of our product
  • Learn to have a deep understanding of game mechanics and all available game data

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Data science and analytics experience including aggregating, manipulating, examining, mining, exporting, reporting, and visualizing threat intelligence and incident data
  • Skills using visualization tools (JavaScript, Graphite, Tableau, R, etc) for creating dashboards to monitor and analyze data
  • Familiarity with concepts and technologies related to Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Hadoop and data reduction technologies
  • Experience with intelligence analysis, including analytic tradecraft, and demonstrated critical thinking skill
  • Firm grasp of link-analysis methods and ability to quickly develop effective solutions to unique problems using a combination of existing tools and custom code/scripts
  • Knowledge of and experience with security monitoring methodologies such as patterns, watch lists, black lists, log parsing, correlation, classification, event generation, taxonomy, filtering
  • Experience with Linux/Unix and an understanding of database technologies
  • Familiarity with and understanding of current hacking techniques, vulnerability disclosures, data breach incidents, and security analysis techniques
  • Passion for enhancing and fixing customer online play experiences
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across disciplines (engineering, production, data analyst)
  • Willing to occasionally handle urgent issues related to security outside normal work hours
  • Intermediate Excel and PowerPoint skills are required
