Position Title: Software Engineer II

EA is looking for an experienced gameplay Software Engineer to work on our Plants vs. Zombies team. This engineer will work on a broad range of game systems including, but not limited to: core gameplay, stats and progression, AI and the animation system.

This is a great opportunity to join a small, highly energized team creating a game with PopCap’s signature humor and charm.


Required Skills:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, or equivalent training and professional experience
  • 5+ years of experience with C++
  • Demonstrated knowledge of good software engineering practices
  • An understanding of client/server architecture
  • Ability to work in an existing engine
  • Experience architecting, implementing and tuning game systems
  • Can collaborate and iterate on ideas with designers and artists

 
Additional Skills:

  • Has shipped one or more titles
  • Experience working on consoles (i.e. PlayStation, or Xbox)
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a specialist on gameplay or metagame
  • Ability to accurately estimate and plan work
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as LUA and Python
  • Experience building C# applications and tools, understands performance aspects of C#
  • A deep knowledge of games and a passion for game development
  • Is creative, and can come up with game ideas
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
