Capital Games is best known for the break-out mobile hit Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes which has been the #1 Grossing game in over 35 countries and is one of the Top 40 Grossing Games in the entire world across Apple and Google for the last year. The game also consistently maintains a 4.5-star rating and is played over two hours a day on average by players. Galaxy of Heroes is, by far, the most successful Star Wars mobile game that has ever existed.

Capital Games is seeking a strong animator to bolster the art team on our wildly successful Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes mobile title. Candidates should have a strong understanding of character animation and anatomy of motion, the technical understanding to take their art from asset creation to engine, and the ability to communicate concisely with other disciplines including design and engineering.

 Responsibilities:

  • Animate characters/vehicles/environmental elements for mobile gaming platforms
  • Author and edit MechAnim state machines in Unity
  • Help define animation requirements and guide the modelers and technical artists with their development of characters and rigs
  • Manage own animation assets from Maya to version control and ultimately to Unity and verify quality in the game

Requirements & Skills:

  • 2+ years of animation production experience, with mobile development experience a big plus
  • Strong understanding of animation in Maya
  • Ability to create streamlined, high-quality animation assets using restricted bone counts
  • Understanding of anatomy, movement, weight, timing and character appeal
  • Experience with Unity, MechAnim, and in-game cinematics systems (like Cinema Director)
  • Comfort and familiarity with version control and asset management solutions (Perforce, git, etc)
  • Understanding of scripting a plus

Portfolio/Presentation Requirements:

It is required that you submit a portfolio/presentation of your work with your application.  You may do so by providing a link to an online presentation, or attach documents to your resume.  All presentations must contain a detailed breakdown of the work. It must be very clear what you, the applicant, are responsible for.

  • Short animation piece that showcases your understand of the principles of animation. Work should show you understand weight, timing, appeal and strong posing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of game-quality animation requirements and limitations
  • Any art (traditional or digital media) that you have personally created.
