Position Title: Marketing Specialist I

External Description:

Job Purpose: This role requires a creative and self-driven person to own and execute the overall marketing strategy for EA’s External Development Summit (XDS) – the only global event aimed to advance external development for the video game industry. This person works with the event Producer and 3rd parties to implement marketing initiatives that create awareness for XDS (internal and external), and drives both sponsorship and attendance for the event. This person also provides internal discoverability support to both the XDI team.

Reports To: Sr Manager, External Development Intelligence (XDI)

Location: EA Vancouver, BC, Canada

Major Responsibilities:

  • Development of the annual marketing and communications plan and strategy for the XDS franchise of events
  • Ownership of all social media platforms, ensuring regular content updates to continually promote XDS and its constituents
  • Manage community partners, allowing for the successful cross-promotion of XDS in other marketing channels
  • Development, management, execution and implementation of annual project marketing scope and critical path
  • Accountable for marketing budget planning, creation, and management to meet fiscal targets
  • Ongoing analysis of marketing strategies to ensure project goals and objectives are consistently achieved
  • Ownership of marketing campaign processes from end to end (conception and execution, to measurement)
  • Full brand management of External Development Summit (XDS)
  • Working collaboratively with external partners on complex project deliverables with multiple interdependencies to achieve project goals
  • Work with 3rd party development teams to maintain multiple digital platforms (website, event mobile app), as well as managing these platforms (experience with CMS platforms like WordPress)
  • Creation of content strategy and curation/deployment of content across channels
  • Copywriting (website, email newsletters, press releases, marketing collateral, mobile app, promotional materials, marketing collateral, etc.)
  • Working with, and managing external partners to create marketing collateral (signage, swag, promotional flyers, sponsorship deck, industry reports, promotional videos, event photography, etc.)
  • Management of online/digital community
  • Responsible for all press relations and media management
  • Building and managing relationships with cross-promotional partners (local and international)

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in planning and executing marketing strategies
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in managing marketing initiatives for events
  • Minimum Bachelors' degree from an accredited college or University
  • Intimate understanding of traditional and emerging marketing channels
  • Flexibility to travel approximately 2-3 times annually
  • Creative mind with an ability to generate new ideas and problem solve
  • Senior-level communication skills with demonstrated experience building internal partner and 3rd party relationships

Desirable:

  • General understanding of the video game industry
  • Ability to perform basic creative tasks in Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
  • MBA or advanced marketing degree from a reputable university
