Why Join the Frostbite Animation Team?

As a member of the Frostbite Animation team you will be adding to and evolving technology that has been used in many dozens of titles for well over a decade in EA. Being part of the team will involve partnering with numerous game teams to continue shaping the core elements of Animation but also working with other teams within Frostbite like Physics and Cinematics to make integration of our systems seamless and increase the overall power of the Frostbite engine in the hands of creators. We have many opportunities available for learning, engaging with others and gaining unique expertise.

Team members may find themselves:

  • Adding to our suite of technology for managing numerous scenarios involving interactions between multiple characters
  • Developing new tools and solutions for crafting secondary animations with chained items, cloth attachments or muscle flexing
  • Engaging with animators, developers, and other content creators in other domains to develop powerful multi-functional workflows
  • Debugging and optimizing complex in game performance issues such as with blending, animation compression and more

What does a Product Owner do?

As a Product Owner on the Animation team you will be uniquely positioned to guide the future technology of Frostbite and Electronic Arts. You will be a part of daily interactions with many of the most experienced engineers and designers in the company to help solve some of our most engaging problems. Your contributions will be used to build the next wave of incredible EA titles and help define the direction of Animation within the Frostbite Engine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define product vision and communicate long terms goals with internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Present and sell the product, including teams’ successes and improvements, internally and externally.
  • Own the quality and long-term health of the product, ensuring development is sustainable.
  • Prioritize product development between customer requests, Frostbite long-term goals, quality improvements and cutting-edge technology.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, partners and the development team.
  • Provide direction and motivation for the team, prioritizing the team's work and describing what the expected outcomes are.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in Computer Science or Animation related field, or equivalent training and professional experience.
  • Strong focus on software quality, performance and testability
  • Software development experience with Tools
  • Strong technical communication and collaboration skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience using Agile methodologies
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts, principles and solutions
  • Demonstrates dependability and commitment to projects/tasks
  • Good business sense – ability to manage non-technical hurdles to getting things done
  • Culture of continuous learning; the ability and hunger to take on new challenges
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative team environment

Bonus points if you have

  • Experience with data driven visual programming languages.
  • Experience with C++, WPF or C#
  • Experience with multi-threaded programming
  • Game development experience
