We are looking for a talented Senior Accountant to join our APAC Finance Team based from our modern office in central Sydney on a 6 month maximum term contract.  

This position will oversee our Australian entity with some major areas of responsibilities such as month end close activities, ownership of local statutory requirements such as tax, audit and government statistical survey and ensure compliance of internal control.

The role requires ownership, attention to detail, solid organizational skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines. The successful candidate will display absolute integrity and discretion in handling confidential information. The role will have frequent interaction and support from global counterparts and reports directly into our Accounting Manager based out of Singapore.  

Be a part of a globally integrated team, capable of continuously improving our systems, processes, and controls, to proactively discharge our financial and transactional responsibilities, as well as serve as valued partners in supporting our business operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure application of US GAAP in daily financial transactions with in mind of Australia local statutory requirements as well
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structure
  • Support Controller to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Work closely with Shared Service team and local users on enquiries relating to employee expense claims and supplier invoices.
  • Gatekeeper of vendor invoices to ensure Shared Service team do not miss out on processing invoices directly e-mail by users and follow up/stepping in when users do not response to Share Service teams’ queries
  • Forecasting cashflow as and needed and Review weekly payment details provided by Shared Service team before final run are processed
  • Review open POs and follow up with respective requestors on the status. Inform Shared Service to close POs that are no longer in use.
  • Review AR aging and follow up with Sales team on outstanding customer invoices.
  • Prepare/review monthly journal entries, reconciliation and Balance Sheet schedules using Cadency and follow up on outstanding items part of month end activities
  • Work closely with business partners in regard with fixed assets purchases, retirements and liasing with Shared service team to ensure the accuracy in recording the movements
  • Communicate with intercompany partners to ensure ICO reconciliation and settlements
  • Reviewing and preparing month end reporting
  • Details analysis of certain general account which may need to be re-classify to ensure correct classification for tax purposes
  • Updating Fixed Asset Register template for Australia tax purposes
  • Any other adhoc work as requested

Technical skills and experience:

  • Degree in Accountancy
  • Accountancy Certified like CPA, ISCA or part certified (working towards to attain this professional certificate)
  • Minimum 5 years of related accounting experience in a multinational organization
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP accounting and reporting will be a plus
  • Working knowledge of Australia IFRS and taxation regulation (Fringe Benefit Tax, GST, Income tax) will be a plus
  • Good team player
  • Independent, proactive with strong initiative and positive working attitude
  • Competency in PC skills (eg: Excel)
  • Experience in using fully integrated ERP system such as Oracle will be preferred
