A Development Director manages a variety of disciplines including software engineers, artists, and designers.  DD's are the keepers of the project schedule and play a vital role in successfully moving the development team from one milestone to the next while ensuring a strong focus on quality, collaboration and communication.  They must partner closely with producers and designers to ensure that they are managing the project on time, to quality, and within budget for the various client teams we work with.  

 

POSITION SPECIFIC: 

  • Able to initiate or implement development process improvements to achieve efficiencies and to act as a change agent for process improvements.
  • Understand company, label, franchise and team needs and thereby facilitate the setting of overall priorities in conjunction with Producer priorities and resource constraints.
  • Prioritize and direct development strategies and models to support near and long range plans & innovation.
  • Ensure that game features are delivered on time, on budget, and at the required quality level.
  • Demonstrates successful execution of business strategies for products and services.
  • Effectively monitors and adjusts capacity plans.
  • Leads a high performing team with a strong culture of trust and collaboration.
  • Regularly collaborates outside of core team to solve problems and share best practices.
  • Quickly and effectively resolves conflicts, organizational and execution issues.
  • Drive the implementation & quality delivery of online solutions and manage live services and deployments.
  • Strong communicator, mediation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Able to build a strong effective team; effective at selecting strong people.
  • Ability to think outside the box in a challenging and ambiguous environment. 
  • Able to effectively partner with peers outside of team to establish alliances and aid in strategic planning.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A successful candidate will have experience in a central team or service organization, who is accustomed to dealing with competing priorities from various stakeholders and has a knack for handling these inevitable conflicting priorities with diplomacy, tact and a positive overall attitude. 
  • Ideally has worked in a leadership role for 8+ years
  • Strong operational and project management experience in software development
  • Excellent leadership and people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team. 
  • Demonstrated aptitude, skills, and experience within a dynamic entertainment environment producing high quality products and services with many inputs and employing complex and challenging processes. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative and facilitative nature, strong communication, public speaking, and presentation skills. 
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment.
  • A can-do attitude, with a spirit of collaboration, problem-solving and driving for results in creating compelling user experiences across products and/or services.
  • Experience in various project management methodologies such as waterfall and agile.
  • Ability to plan and execute change through a formalized change management process.
