Quality Designer

Come and join the PopCap Quality Verification (QV) team at EA Seattle to work with the world's best game development teams in a challenging yet fun and creative environment. In this role you will drive quality through your specialization in key domains of the QV process to drive continuous improvement of the QV practice across EA and actively knowledge share across the organization.

You are dynamic, enthusiastic and can collaborate successfully across both the development and QV domains to build and maintain productive relationships and communication channels.

 Scope, Impact and Areas of Ownership:

You will work autonomously in an embedded Agile environment as an integral and equal part of a multi-discipline team.

You will also be involved in the development process from design to implementation to release – you will develop and build working relationships with senior members of the development, production and design teams by driving a higher quality player experience through tasks such as feature planning, analyzing internal data/player data, and feature/design reviews.

Act as subject-matter experts across the organization to effect process improvement across business units.

Propose, provide, and drive solutions to problems with minimal supervision from senior leadership/management.

End to end review of quality strategy and of the test plan.

Leverage deep understanding of the game features and systems to help review and provide feedback on what telemetry will be valuable to the game team post launch

Support identification of technical solutions and automation opportunities.

Drive improvements and knowledge sharing across both Mobile and global QA teams.

Report progress and status through regular email or face-to-face communication with appropriate managers and other stakeholders.

Mentor/coaching analysts and other individual contributors. Like all PopCap QV team members, you will share findings and insights and provide mentorship and training to others, both local and remote.

As part of the EA QV team, you will have access to a vast network of teams around the globe and the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from peers across diverse studios and genres.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

10+ years of relevant QV experience including embedded QV methodologies

Deep understanding of the software development process: build systems, continuous integration, unit tests, code / data dependencies, telemetry, and reporting metrics

Ability to find root causes of issues by using tools to investigate common software debug artifacts (callstacks, exceptions, asserts, network calls, logs)

Well-practiced in Agile Development and optimizing the test process including successful application of defect prevention and containment

Excellent ability to multi-task conflicting demands based on project status and timelines

A passion for gaming and the ability to critically evaluate the design, art and economy that influence player behavior.

Identify, proposes and implement viable process and measurement solutions within team

Demonstrate an advanced understanding of the importance of metrics and analytics and regularly utilizes them when doing research and providing feedback

Develop and foster strong working relationships with senior members of the development, production and design teams

Use critical thinking techniques to analyze, synthesize, evaluate, and help present information and project metrics

Provide task breakdowns, planning, dependencies and time estimates for own assignments

Provide input to management team to assist decision making; helps assess project impact of available options

Articulate trends in a relevant community. Understands what the community wants and expects from a type of game and incorporates that understanding into feedback

Break down and provides an analysis of the competition. Identifies product differentiation and provides impact analysis

Telemetry and data visualization power user and active participant in data improvement
