Job Description

EA is seeking an experienced UX strategist to help develop personalized experiences across in-game menus,  email, web, and additional channels. In this role you will need to apply human-centered design techniques to establish and enhance the technical and non-technical requirements associated with players’ personalized messaging experiences. 

As part of the Dynamic Messaging team, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to co-create useful, meaningful, and cohesive messaging experiences that help our games better connect with players. This role will be a critical part of the Dynamic Omnichannel Messaging (DOM) initiative – a centralized, always-on, automated messaging program that drives acquisition, engagement and retention across EA’s digital ecosystem. The position requires a pragmatic, skilled professional who can apply a player-centered and data-informed approach to delivering the right message to the right player at the right time.

The Senior UX Strategist will need to drive solutions with minimal direction. This role will partner with engineers, content strategists, producers, and other colleagues throughout a game’s development lifecycle and live service roadmap. Candidates must be capable of working independently with business and technology leaders to ensure DOM personalization strategies are aligned to EA’s strategic goals, technically feasible, and improve the player’s experience. Ultimately the role, will be responsible for helping messaging programs balance both the art of creating delightful experiences and the science of experimenting via data-driven methodologies.

About the Team

The Dynamic Messaging team’s primary goal is to motivate players to engage with EA games by delivering content against key moments in the player’s journey. The team focuses on leveraging behavioral and transactional data, as well as automation tools to deliver personalized messages, at scale; and strategically delivers enterprise-wide solutions that allow for cross-channel marketing automation to power new digital business models.

Responsibilities of this role include: 

  • Lead the work to define, document and gain approval for personalized messaging use cases, using a useful, usable, and desirable framework to structure messaging experience
  • Define and understand use cases and UX requirements, storyboard, create interaction flows, wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, and detailed specifications
  • Gather available insights that help illuminate player needs, including but not limited to internal analysis, customer research, and third party content.
  • Evaluate active programs, establish vision for personalized messaging experiences, and develop relationships with a broad set of stakeholders that have competing priorities
  • Help define the information architecture, interface requirements, and interaction flow of in game, email, web and app notification personalized messaging experiences
  • Facilitate brainstorming and work sessions with cross-disciplinary teams to move research findings into vision and design strategies
  • Align and connect user experience efforts and visual design principles across products and projects
  • Serve as a champion for design thinking and human-centered approaches, collaborating with internal experts and stakeholders helping to reduce friction across the player journey

   

Desired Skills and Experience 

  • 5+ years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar design-related role, creating prototypes or wire-frames for complex web applications and/or workflows.
  • 3+ years’ experience working in direct collaboration with product leaders, development managers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • A portfolio demonstrating samples of design deliverables (personas, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes) 
  • Fluency in best practices for information architecture and design, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques.
  • Have a thorough understanding of contemporary design methodologies, enterprise software, and working with complex experiences
  • Demonstrated history of acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) and insights to drive discussion and decisions around personalized experiences
  • Experience working with stakeholders to plan and execute programs that are strategic in nature
  • Experience owning large-scale projects, communicating timelines, and executing independently
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent degree is a plus
