An opportunity has opened for an Ontologist to join our Data Management team within the Global Analytics and Insights group (GAI). This is an exciting opportunity to directly impact how the organization creates and thinks about data and the information derived from it. You will be part of a diverse team who will pioneer a new epoch in Data Management at EA.

 

We are looking for an experienced leader in Information Science with a strong data and information architecture background. You are a practitioner of disciplined execution focused on formulating solid vision, strategy, goals, and requirements collaboratively. You have developed enterprise grade Ontologies and Taxonomies to improve the organization's Information Systems and unlock the value of its data assets. You are astute and take a pragmatic approach in your work to create designs which fit today and are adaptable over time. You enjoy building things from the ground up and thrive working in a highly collaborative and diverse team.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business and domain experts across the organization.
  • Formulate a vision, strategy, goals, and requirements collaboratively with our global Data and Analytics leaders, business and technology teams.
  • Develop and implement Taxonomies and Thesauri for our Player and Game domains.
  • Develop graph-based semantic models which capture knowledge about EA’s business.
  • Assist in developing tooling to support capture of domain concepts and to allow model/ontology extension by subject matter experts
  • Develop and administer controlled vocabularies for the enterprise.
  • Support Data Architects, Analysts, SMEs and other stakeholders defining ontology-based Telemetry systems and Information Models.
  • Support technology team as they integrate heterogeneous unstructured, semi-structured, and well-structured data into analytics solutions
  • Develop, review, publish and validate the sets of data principles and data standards.
  • Develop and maintain Information Management Systems
  • Develop training documentation and deliver training

 

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in the field of Ontology or Enterprise Information Architecture
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Science, Knowledge Management, Library Science, Computer Science / MIS or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience developing ontologies and taxonomies in business or the arts for disparate knowledge domains
  • Proficiency in data analysis with strong logical and conceptual reasoning and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated success in the collection of requirements, including the use of interviews, document analysis, workshops, user research, business process outcome modeling and task and workflow analysis.
  • Experience with triple stores and graph stores
  • Familiarity with taxonomy, thesauri and ontology standards and best practices (e.g. ANSI/NISO Z.39.19, ISO 25964, OWL, RDF)
  • Proven experience working on interdepartmental teams and with a diverse with all levels
  • Highly organized and flexible with shifting priorities; thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a passion to make a difference
  • User oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Preferred Experience

  • A passion and knowledge of video games – theory, mechanics and game play.
  • Masters degree in Information Science, Library Science or Computer Science / Information Systems
  • Experience in using ontologies to support data generation and integration and business reasoning
  • Experience in data science or analytics, especially statistical analysis and predictive/prescriptive modeling
  • Proficiency with Enterprise Information Management System software
  • Experience establishing and leading governance processes and stakeholder management
  • Experience working in a global organization and working with remote teams across time zones
