FX Artist - Create - Apex Legends (Temporary)

Our teams comprise of artists, engineers, technicians, designers, and development directors. Destruction, fires, smoke, clouds, and more are the everyday work of the EA Create VFX team. They are experienced in many engines and creation tools and even practical ways to create the desired effect!

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the lead VFX artist, you will conceptualize and create visual effects for games
  • Create and apply dynamic animation and simulation techniques to a variety of effects to simulate physical phenomenon
  • Work with Game Design to understand the VFX requirements and help communicate gameplay mechanics information back to the player through visual elements
  • Support the VFX and Art Directors in the VFX vision for the game, while also taking VFX ownership on multiple environments mechanics, and sequences as assigned
  • Inject personality and humor into visual effects through stylization

Qualifications:

  • Have shipped titles as a real-time VFX artist with 2+ years’ experience in software game development
  • Experience with real-time visual effects editors and particle systems
  • Working knowledge of Maya, or other commercial 3D authoring and fluid sim packages to create source textures and models.
  • Proficiency in Maya/Houdini or the equivalent for simulations, modeling, and general 3D work
  • Proficiency with Photoshop/After Effects for texture creation
  • Experience with scripting languages and shader authoring (HLSL) is ideal
  • Experience with Source Engine is a great plus
  • You are a team-player and open to new processes and pipelines
  • You are motivated, creative, and user-focused
