    Position Overview

    The Quality Assurance Project Manager (QAPM) is responsible for the delivery of specialized testing services across multiple projects (software applications), managing internal and external teams distributed across multiple locations. The role primarily revolves around managing a series of software testing processes to achieve the highest levels of quality on the product.

    Provide leadership to the Quality Assurance team while also managing day to day operations across an evolving slate of product:

    • Oversee 1-3 EA Partner games with multiple SKU’s (Stock Keeping Units) and studios in production at any one time, including live service components where applicable.
    • Cultivate successful external partnerships, leading through influence and looking for positive partnership solutions to all problems.
    • Work with peers in Marketing, Sales, Development, Finance, Operations, 1st parties, Central Tech and HR on the development and financial plans for the titles.

    A QA Project Manager drives improvements of the QA practices across EA and actively shares knowledge across the organization. QAPMs have a strong mindset focused towards consumer experience and work together with their team to ensure the smoothest end user experience is provided.

    As a QA Project Manager you must possess strong people skills while maintaining orientation towards project deliveries. You need to be able to identify risk and work mitigation strategies against those risks.

    Another critical part of this role is to develop a strong relationship based on good communication between your QA team and all partners and stakeholders involved in the project across multiple locations such as Development, Production, Localization teams etc.

     

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Project Management/Process responsibilities

    Communicates within project and to external groups: adapts content and detail to match audience, regularly collaborates outside of project team to solve problems and share best practices, communicates to and on behalf of the QA project team.

    Establishes clear goals and deliverables from off-site test teams that might be involved in the project. Uses control and tracking tools to follow progress on these deliverables and takes corrective measures where the case requires it.

    Adopts existing methodologies, defines and rolls out new ones as required by project needs

    Proactively identifies and implements process improvements: evolves, optimizes, and defines project-wide processes under their area of influence

    Manages the planning, execution and reporting processes of QA testing activities across their project(s)

    Anticipates problems and future needs and takes necessary steps to address issues. Performs analysis, risk management and documents justification for initiatives

    Develops standards, KPIs, procedures, training manuals and other documentation for project or internal use

    Manages relationship with project stakeholders and external Development studios.

    Manages project resources - ensures planned capacity will deliver project on time, quality, and budget.

    Designs test strategies using a variety of techniques, tools, and technologies: selects the appropriate methods based on defined objectives including cost, efficiency, effectiveness, and balancing available resources, uses information and business systems to support planning and tracking of activities.

    Deploys flexible project plans and builds dynamic teams allowing them to easily pivot around the iterative nature of the creative process of game making.

     

    Team Management responsibilities

    Gets directly involved in recruiting the subordinates by assessing skills requirements for his project. Validates resource needs via project schedule.

    Schedules the activities of the team, including the vacation planning and other free days, etc.

    Coordinates the work volume and assigns activity to each member of the team, so that they complete their work tasks in time and in an efficient way

    Evaluates and monitors the performance objectives of their team members periodically

    Manages the professional development process of the subordinates, together with the Human Resources Department, identifies the actual talent, but also the development possibilities of each member of their team.

    Bears responsibility of the team development offers feedback and coaching; Identifies and responds to team issues.

    Leads individual contributors and other people managers.

    Requirements

    2+ years Project Management experience (PMP certification is nice to have). Proven experience in multi-disciplined projects and/or test management. 

    1+ years People Management experience 

    Good understanding of Software Development Lifecycle or testing processes (ISTQB is nice to have) 

    Able to be hands on to fully understand the challenges and effectively and knowledgeably communicate status with multiple stakeholders.

    Quality oriented, not just task completion focused

    Strong Customer focus both in terms of development partners and end users.

    Excellent English skills 

    Nice to have

    Experience with applications such as Atlassian’s JIRA, Confluence, TechExcel’s DevTest and/or Gurock's TestRail

    Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI.
