Position Title: Business Development Manager

External Description:

Competitive Gaming Entertainment (CGE) is built around creating highly engaging competitive programs that aim to make stars of all our players. The Commercialization team is looking for a Commercialization Manager to work collaboratively with the competitive titles across the portfolio on the design and establishment of our competitive ecosystems and schedules, focused on relevant commercial aspects and supporting external partnerships.  This person will also explore new commercial opportunities beyond our existing initiatives, and will work with all of our competitive titles, including FIFA, Apex Legends, Madden and additional new titles as applicable.

 

Responsibilities

  • Commercial representative within a cross-functional group to evaluate alternative competitive structures (e.g. event based, regional based, franchise-based league, etc.) within our competitive titles, and the requirements to deliver them.  As these projects move forward, work on the coordination and execution of all related Commercial plans
  • Focus on the commercial aspects and collaborate on the design and delivery of each of our competitive ecosystems
  • Commercial support for building annual event schedules and Tournament Organizer partnerships that improve EA’s benefits and additional rights.  Work closely with each Commissioner team
  • Exploration of other sources of event funding and monetization, e.g. geo-based support
  • Work with First-party partners and tournament operators to build programs and develop opportunities together
  • Identify, persuade and negotiate with external partners to support CG initiatives and events
  • Exploration and delivery of new CG projects and revenues.  Work cross-functionally (with Finance, Research, Corporate Strategy, etc.) to complete the research, model the upside, and market exploration and internal benefits case to drive new valuable initiatives
  • Develop market research and knowledge to inform our decisions

Key Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in negotiating business partnerships and structuring unique or complex deals
  • 4+ years of experience in video gaming, esports and competitive gaming preferred.  Deep knowledge of the esports industry preferred
  • A passion for esports and competitive gaming
  • Creativity, curiosity and determination to find new ideas and work to bring them to life 
  • Ability to occasionally travel, including international (10-20%)
  • Proven track-record of success working across functions in a matrix environment, with strong ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the demonstrated ability to make effective presentations to a broad range of audiences
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
