Overview                                                                                                                                                                                  

EA IT Business Applications is responsible for the planning, building and deployment of Enterprise Application, Enterprise Integration and Business Intelligence solutions for EA. The team is currently focused on a multi-year effort to build the next generation Enterprise Integration Services systems to better align to the company’s new business model. Enterprise Integration, a shared service, is a key enabler for ensuring timely availability of accurate and quality data in business applications and the enterprise data warehouse.

 

The Senior Data Engineer will implement strategies directed at acquiring data and promoting the development of new insights across the business. The Senior Data Engineer owns and extends the business’s data pipeline through the collection, storage, processing, and transformation of large data-sets. It is his duty to monitor the existing metrics, analyze data, and lead partnership with other Data and Analytics teams in an effort to identify and implement system and process improvements.

 

The Senior Data Engineer will additionally develop queries for ad hoc business projects, as well as ongoing reporting. In this capacity, the Senior Data Engineer builds a metadata system where all available data is maintained and cataloged. The Senior Data Engineer also plays a major role in the development of reliable data pipelines that translate raw data into powerful features and signals.

 

The Senior Data Engineer designs, architects, implements, and supports key datasets that avail structured and timely access to actionable business insights. The Senior Data Engineer is additionally tasked with developing ETL processes that convert data into formats through a team of data analysts and dashboard charts.

 

The Senior Data Engineer will be a subject matter expert in designing and building data integration and analytical solutions using latest analytical tools and applications including Snowflake, Informatica ETL, Tidal, AWS and other SAAS solutions and programming using python and/or Java.

 

Key Responsibilities                                                                                                                                                                      

  • Analyze business/functional requirements, review the solution architecture, and develop the technical architecture and detailed design
  • Analyze data issues, identify and articulate the business impact of data problems
  • Develop and test the integration solution individually or in collaboration with onsite/offshore development resources from external delivery partners.
  • Perform code reviews and ensure that all solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural standards, guidelines, best practices, and meet quality standards
  • Deploy the solution on a high-availability shared service production environment
  • Understand and comply with the established software development life cycle methodology
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and implements the same.
  • Establish and enhance technical guidelines and best practices for the integration development team
  • Utilize subject matter expertise in area of enterprise applications, solutions to evaluate complex, sensitive business problems and architect technical solutions.
  • Keep current with industry technologies and tools in the integration domain

 

Minimum Qualifications                                                                                                                                                            

  • 7+ years leadership of design and development in BI environments scaling to hundreds of users and multiple terabytes of content.
  • 5+ years of experience working in data engineering department, preferably as a Data Engineer in a fast-paced environment and complex business setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining reliable and scalable ETL on big data platforms as well as experience working with varied forms of data infrastructure inclusive of relational databases such as SQL, Hadoop, Spark and column-oriented databases such as Redshift, MySQL, and Vertica.
  • Experience in data warehousing inclusive of dimensional modeling concepts and demonstrate proficiency in scripting languages, for example, Python, Perl, and so forth.
  • Suitable Machine learning experience and experience with big data infrastructure inclusive of MapReduce, Hive, HDFS, YARN, HBase, Oozie, etc.
  • Substantial experience and a deep knowledge of data mining techniques, relational, and non-relational databases.
  • Strong experience on Oracle (11g, 12c, 18c, 19c) SQL/PLSQL and database design, programming, and performance tuning skills.
  • Experience in Snowflake cloud data platform is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of RDBMS concepts, data modeling techniques (3NF, Dimensional and Vault). Certifications a plus.
  • Strong background in data Warehousing principles and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in implementing technology for large-scale BI architectures .
  • Ability to depict the technical information conceptually, logically and physically.
  • Ability to function effectively under pressure in environments of rapid change and conflicting demands and crisis management.  Demonstrated continuous improvement and quality methodology skills.
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels; ability to communicate complex, technical concepts.
  • Effective issue resolution and structured problem solving methodology.
  • Outstanding verbal, written and presentation skills required
  • Bachelor Degree required – CS or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
