Position Title: Software Engineer II

External Description:

The Microsoft SQL Database Administrator for Sports game development will provide the technical administration for a game team at Tiburon. They will be a master in MS SQL Server from an administration, development and troubleshooting point of view, and know how to communicate with both content creators and development engineers. They will be well-versed in Microsoft SQL Server databases, have a high awareness of disaster recovery, backups, migration, and overall administration. They will be responsible for providing the technical expertise when it comes to architecture, memory management, tool creation, and overall maintenance and upkeep of the DB.

Job Overview:

  • Take ownership of a MySQL database that is used to manage in-game data
  • Offer best practices and implementation strategies in developing stable and scalable systems for the future
  • Help provide support for content creators to most effectively and efficiently enter data to be used by the game at run-time
  • Perform daily tasks using tools, skills, and practices to optimize data architecture, content management, and overall game development
  • Perform database monitoring through established corporate processes
  • Lead discussions, contribute to, and facilitate interactions in database management best practices

Job Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in database development and administration in a Microsoft SQL Server environment (SQL Server 2005 +)
  • Experience administering SQL Servers containing large amounts of data with constrained memory requirements.
  • Mastery in designing TSQL queries & stored procedures, table partitioning, indexing, backup strategies, database optimization and performance tuning
  • Expertise in re-architecture of failing systems to produce scalable results in a reasonable amount of time
  • Expert in physical & logical design of database architecture
  • Able to effectively communicate with different people of different technological backgrounds.

Plusses:

  • Games industry experience
  • C# or other software development experience for the purpose of tool development
  • University degree in computer/database systems, engineering
  • Recent (2005+) Microsoft Database certifications
