Senior Front End Software Engineer (React)

In your role as Senior Front End Software Engineer, you will be responsible for hands on React, CSS, HTML design and development, actively participating in project scoping, planning, design and execution, collaborating with cross-functional teams, keeping an eye on the utmost delivery for our player community. As part of the broader team, you will be a key contributor to the EAX team based out of Vancouver, BC.

Joining EAX means joining the team shaping EA’s subscription services now spanning 3 major platforms; building services that power EA’s games and enable more personalized, socially connected, and frictionless experiences; and expanding our platforms crossing web, PC, and mobile so our players can get into the games they want to play and stay connected while playing. You’re someone with a proven track record for:

• Hands-on crafting of React, CSS, HTML, and JS
• Being part of a ~10-15 person cross functional scrum team
• Working closely with Experience Design throughout the design and development process
• Actively participate in project scoping, planning, design, and execution 
• Delivering iterative value for our players, marketing and game franchise partners 
• Contributing to building a modular and performant progressive web application
• Utilizing your knowledge of software engineering concepts to design and implement tested, reusable, and modular code
• Applying knowledge of the business goals to derive innovative solutions for the project, team, and group
• Leading projects end-to-end, requiring collaboration with multiple functional groups including CMS, Core Services, Core UI Components
• Being an active learner who is up for expanding your breadth of knowledge
• Having passion for your craft. You feel ownership over everything you ship.

You also bring the following skills or experiences to our team:

• Strong technical and practical understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or 4+ year relevant work experience
• Solid understanding using front-end build tools such as Webpack, Rollup, Grunt, Gulp, Browserify, and npm scripts
• Proficiency with front-end performance topics / rendering internals
• Proficiency delivering feature-level technical design and documentation
• Experience with performance measurement, analysis, and optimization
• Experience with modern JavaScript libraries such as React, Redux,  Apollo, AngularJS and Polymer
• Experience working in a cross functional Scrum team
• Experience using Git and related tools like GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket
• Experience mentoring peers, and delivering technical presentations
• Familiarity with JavaScript front-end testing tools and methodology

Bonus Skills and experience: 

• Experience with Typescript
• Experience building Web Components
• Experience with CSS processors such as Emotion,
• Experience with UI / UX
• Experience with GraphQL
• Experience with SEO
• Experience with TechOps / infrastructure systems - Amazon Web Services, Chef and Jenkins
• Experience with server-side development using nodeJS, PHP, Java, Ruby or Python
• Experience working in server side frameworks such as Koa, Play, Symfony, Rails, Express or Django.
• Experience with Continuous Integration and Test-Driven Development, and experience working with a team in implementing these principals.
