The EAX team is driving the strategy and implementation of important plans for EA’s community of players to connect them to one another and to the games they love to play. These plans include: EA Access, our cross-platform subscription on Origin, PS4, Xbox One and soon on Steam: Origin, EA’s gaming service on PC; and a host of other consumer experiences and strategies to connect friends across platforms and within our games.

We are looking for a Software Engineer who has vast knowledge of the Web (having in-depth knowledge in CSS, HTML and JavaScript). Someone who understands from the point a Web document is loaded in the DOM to the intricate details when the browser does rendering. In this role, you'll use your Web development knowledge to build common UI components for our atomic UI design system across multiple platforms reporting to Design System Team's Software Engineering Manager.

In a typical week, the Software Engineer could…: 

  • Contribute building a modular and performant design system
  • Be part of a ~10-15 person scrum team with member from several roles (designers, engineers, UX engineers and product owner)
  • Work with Experience Design and Product teams throughout the design and development process 
  • Participate in project scoping, planning and execution 
  • Use your knowledge of software engineering concepts to engineer tested, reusable, and modular code
  • Learn about new technology and apply new techniques to improve engineer solutions.
  • Mentor teammates and present technical presentations

You’re someone with a proven track record for: 

  • Have passion for your craft. You feel ownership over everything you ship. 
  • Strong technical and practical understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or 4+ year relevant work experience 
  • Solid understanding using front-end build tools such as Webpack, Rollup, Grunt, Gulp, Browserify, and npm scripts 
  • React development
  • JavaScript front-end testing tools and methodology 
  • Git and related tools like GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket etc 
  • Front-end performance topics / rendering internals 
  • CSS processors such as PostCSS, Sass, or Less 
  • Progressive Web Applications development

You also bring the following skills or experiences to our team:: 

  • Design and collaboration tools such as: Abstract, Sketch, Zeplin, InVision, Figma
  • Develop custom design systems 
  • Typescript 
  • SEO 
  • Build Web accessible applications 
  • Experience with UI / UX 
  • Develop mobile applications using React Native 
  • Work server-side development using nodeJS, PHP, Java, Ruby or Python 
  • Hands-on DevOps / infrastructure systems - Amazon Web Services, Docker, Kubernetes Chef and Jenkins
