Build Engineer – Maxis

We are looking for a Build Engineer to join the Maxis release team at EA’s Redwood City campus.

We pride ourselves on providing superior build, release, and archive management for the Maxis games studio. Our services include Build & Test Automation, Continuous Integration, Metrics Reporting, and Virtual Infrastructure Management.

The Build Engineer will be an essential technical contributor to the development and release of Maxis games including The Sims 4 and unannounced projects.

You will report to the Development Director for Central Online/Web Tech.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will implement and maintain automation pipelines in our Continuous Integration system
  • You will work with our Technical Directors and Engineering Leads on designing, prototyping and implementing new automated workflows
  • You will be an essential contributor working with studio Technical Directors and Engineers to produce builds for developers, testing, and final release

Other Responsibilities

  • Maintain dashboards that visualize key systems metrics
  • Manage virtual and physical infrastructure, including deploying and monitoring VMs/Containers
  • Maintain the product backlog including tasks and their priorities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise
  • Create, improve and maintain workflow tools

Desired Skills:

  • Experience administrating, creating and maintaining automation jobs in CI systems such as Jenkins, GitLab CI and Perforce.
  • Experience with at least one OO language (e.g. C#, C++, Java)
  • Experience with at least one scripting language (e.g. Python, Powershell, bash, Ruby)
  • Experience with source-control tools (e.g. Perforce, Git)
  • Comfortable collaborating as a team and individually
  • Experience running small meetings involving our team and internal customers 
  • S. Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience

  • Deploy and maintain virtual environment (e.g. Virtual Machines, Containers)
  • Infrastructure automation tools (e.g. Chef, Ansible, Puppet)
  • Monitoring tools (e.g. ZABBIX, DataDog)
  • Secrets management tools (e.g. Hashicorp Vault)
  • Artifact management tools (e.g. JFrog Artifactory)
  • Container orchestration and microservice management tools (e.g Kubernetes)
  • Contribute to an active LiveOperations development team
