Summary

The Workplace Experience team partners with the Real Estate team to create and construct innovative workplace environments that enable business success through: comprehensive and thoughtful planning, innovative and sustainable design, and well-planned, timely execution. EA’s vision for Workplace Experience is globally consistent and locally relevant design that meets and exceeds the needs of our employees  

The Senior Manager of Workplace Design will be responsible for setting global workplace standards, which includes the creation of a playbook for EA’s global offices, and managing vendor relationships as well as working closely with Real Estate and Operations partners to oversee design and buildout projects.  This individual will work closely with business unit leaders to understand the individual identities of each studio or business unit in order to develop interior design and aesthetics that highlight each team’s unique character and qualities. The Senior Design Manager will apply knowledge of workplace strategy and innovative planning strategies to create spaces which engage our people and allow them to do their best work.

This role reports to the Senior Director of Workplace Experience. This individual will oversee an Environmental Graphic Design Manager as well as external design resources as needed.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Partner with key EA leaders and teams to consult with and solicit feedback on the design of their workplaces
  • Demonstrates creativity and flexibility to achieving optimal design while adhering to budgets
  • Coordinate with design consultants and Real Estate team for FF&E specification, artwork/branding, lighting and lobby experience
  • Responsible for partnering and driving design plans with external design consultants (Architecture groups)
  • Collaborate with project managers and Real Estate to forecast optimal design for budgeting
  • Guide and oversee the design process from start to finish with other EA partners, including guidance of EA staff engagement, planning, 3-dimensional design, furniture & finishes, and adherence to design concepts in construction at key milestones
  • Provide directional support on design issues during design and construction, including input to relevant projected costs, coordination of programming requirements and problem solving
  • Leverage company assets to develop proper branding and environmental graphics applications for projects. Provide guidance and support to the environmental graphic designer as needed.
  • Lead and produce small design projects occasionally.
  • Manage stakeholder communication and requirements
  • Develop presentations to clients & senior management, including renderings, material finishes, colors, and FF&E items
  • Serve as a resource to the Workplace Experience and Real Estate teams for changes in code (UBC, IBC, ADA Standards) and other workplace trends
  • Interact with various internal departments such as Branding, Marketing and Creative Strategy teams to ensure consistency with key EA elements.

 

Capabilities

  • Experience working as part of a team and as a people manager.
  • Strong public speaking skills and ability to present at studio all-hands meetings.
  • Expertise in workplace design, people engagement, workplace strategy, and environmental graphic design.
  • Must have experience with and a thorough understanding of architectural design budgets, and be able to apply the impact of specifications and design elements to the overall project budget.
  • Detailed understanding of integrating and harmonizing mechanical systems, lighting systems, air quality systems, and sound in the environment
  • Understanding of architectural process best practices
  • Understanding of workplace trends, including knowledge of workplace strategy and furniture systems
  • Ability to problem-solve design questions and gain consensus for decision-making
  • Ability to work independently as well collaboratively across the organization with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated history of client relationship building
  • Proven architectural design knowledge and graphic design skills
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of internal and external management
  • Ability to provide project management insights for project team.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision, as well as collaboratively in a multi-discipline project team environment
  • Proficiency in Workplace engagements such as surveys, vision sessions, programming interviews, focus groups, etc.

 

Qualifications

  • 8-12 years of relevant experience in architecture for commercial office space, including interiors
  • Strong computer graphics and desktop publishing skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, along with effective interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Windows /NT, Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe
  • InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Google Suite, Bluebeam, and AutoCad,
  • Revit proficiency a plus.
  • Bachelor and/or Master Architecture or Interior Design
  • Professional accreditation in Architecture or Interior Design
  • LEED accreditation preferred
  • Knowledge of Design Thinking and Innovation Strategy sessions preferred
