What a Software Developer in Test - Live Services Specialist will do at BioWare:

The BioWare Quality Technology team creates excellent tools and automation, using a proven and supported foundation of technology, allowing BioWare’s Quality Verification team to take action with confidence and integrity.

The Software Developer in Test - Live Services Specialist role is responsible for staying up-to-date with the needs of the live services Quality Verification team and ensuring that the Quality Technology team can meet those needs in a timely fashion. This role will also be required to design and implement solutions to meet the general needs of Quality Verification.

Your responsibilities as a Software Developer in Test - Live Services Specialist at BioWare will include:

Technology Expertise - You must have the enthusiasm and ability to quickly pick up and retain a broad range of knowledge about the various technologies and systems that the Quality Technology team uses.

Close Collaboration with Quality Verification and Development Teams - This is a role where you will work closely with stakeholders both in Quality Verification and Game Development teams to determine requirements and then develop solutions to meet those requirements.

Live Services Liaison - You will Stay up-to-date with the schedule and needs of live service Quality Verification while ensuring the Quality Technology team is able to assist with those needs in a timely fashion.

The Next Great BioWare Software Developer in Test - Live Services Specialist needs:

Experience - A minimum of 5 years professional software development work experience. This should also include experience working in a large-scale collaborative team environment.

Knowledge - You need a strong understanding of software development concepts and can pick up a new programming language or technology with ease. You should have a strong understanding of how these concepts and technologies can be applied to Quality Verification. You also need to know how design and implement medium-sized features and/or systems while diagnosing and fixing issues that arise in those systems with little guidance from others.

Innovative Attitude - You will be working with a team this is constantly developing solutions that allow Quality Verification and Game Development teams to make decisions and take actions that were previously impossible. You must be able to think of creative solutions that push the boundaries of what Quality Verification can do.

Independence - You need to be able to identify and solve problems creatively and without guidance. If you do not have the information you require, you need to know how to go about getting it. You need to be self-organized and can prioritize and balance conflicting tasks or deliverables.


Communication Skills - Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required for this role as you will be working with a large and diverse set of people.


Collaboration Skills - You will be one in a team of many and as such must be comfortable working with a large, and sometimes remote, team.


Attentiveness - You will need to be detail oriented and capable of working with and organizing large sets of data, variables and deliverables which are constantly changing.

Advantages

  • An Associate degree or higher from an accredited University with a technology focus OR relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with a live services team
  • Experience creating automation solutions for high level and low-level systems (auto-tests for games, unit testing)
  • Proficiency with a wide range of high level and low-level programming and scripting languages (Python, C#, C++, JavaScript, Typescript)
  • Proficiency with a wide range of data storage and analysis (SQL Databases, No-SQL Databases, XML, JSON)
  • Familiarity with both front-end and back-end web development (Web page layout and styling, client-side scripting, backend APIs)
  • Familiarity with EA products
