What a Quality Software Developer - Architect will do at BioWare:
The BioWare Quality Technology team creates excellent tools and automation, using a proven and supported foundation of technology, allowing BioWare’s Quality Verification team to take action with confidence and integrity.
The Quality Software Developer - Architect role is responsible for being the technological leader and role-model of the Quality Technology team. This person will play a key role in actively designing and developing the latest technologies used by the team. They will also set the guidelines and best practices to ensure the team operates at a high-level of excellence.
Your responsibilities as a Quality Software Developer - Architect at BioWare will include:
Technology Expertise - You will stay up-to-date with the latest technologies used by Electronic Arts as well as the state-of-the art for software engineering. You will then direct the Quality Technology team in making the best use of these technologies and practices.
Technological Leadership - You will develop and exemplify the technological guidelines and workflows that allows the Quality Technology team to operate at a high-level of excellence.
Close Collaboration with Quality Verification and Development Teams - This is a role where you will work closely with stakeholders both in Quality Verification and Game Development teams to determine requirements and then develop solutions to meet those requirements.
Architecting and Implementing Solutions - You will architect solutions to problems that can then be passed to another team member to implement or be implemented by yourself.
Team Mentor and Role-Model - You will act as a mentor and a role-model for other team members with a focus on improving their technical expertise and craft as software developers.
The Next Great BioWare Quality Software Developer - Architect needs:
Experience - A minimum of 8 years professional working experience in software development. This should also include experience working in a large-scale collaborative team environment.
Knowledge - You need a strong understanding of software development concepts and can pick up a new programming language or technology with ease. You should have a good understanding of how these concepts and technologies can be applied to Quality Verification. You also need to know how to design and implement large-sized features and/or systems while diagnosing and fixing issues that arise in those systems with little guidance from others.
Innovative Attitude - You will be working with a team that is constantly developing solutions that allow Quality Verification and Game Development teams to make decisions and take actions that were previously impossible. You must be able to think of creative solutions that push the boundaries of what Quality Verification can do.
Independence - You need to be able to identify and solve problems creatively and without guidance. If you do not have the information you require, you need to know how to go about getting it. You need to be self-organized and can prioritize and balance conflicting tasks or deliverables.
Communication Skills - Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are required for this role as you will be working with a large and diverse set of people.
Collaboration Skills - You will be one in a team of many and as such must be comfortable working with a large, and sometimes remote, team.
Attentiveness - You will need to be detail oriented and capable of working with and organizing large sets of data, variables and deliverables which are constantly changing. You will also be staying up-to-date with the many different technologies used throughout EA and how they are changing to best support BioWare’s Quality Verification efforts.
- Technology focused Associates Degree or Higher from an accredited University with equivalent work experience.
- Experience with a wide range of data storage and analysis (SQL Databases, No-SQL Databases, XML, JSON).
- Familiarity with both front-end and back-end web development (Web page layout and styling, client-side scripting, backend APIs).
- Familiarity with EA products.
- Professional experience working within Entertainment & Games Software Industry.
