Position Title: Visual Effects Artist 2

Rôle de l’artiste principal en effets visuels chez Motive :


Rechercher, conceptualiser et créer des effets visuels de haute qualité qui
communiquent la jouabilité du jeu et rehaussent l’expérience du joueur. Les
actifs visuels créés seront destinés aux environnements intrajeu, à la
jouabilité, à la cinématique et aux événements scriptés. Le candidat doit
viser l’atteinte d’une qualité de pointe dans l’industrie et relever la barre de
l’expérience de produit.
● Collaborer étroitement avec les artistes en chef, les concepteurs et les équipes techniques pour créer des effets visuels en temps réel de haute qualité. Les actifs visuels comprennent les systèmes de particules, le maillage, les nuances, les textures, les simulations et animations corporelles rigides.
● Créer des actifs visuels à l’aide du moteur de jeu exclusif à EA, conformément à la conception établie et en tenant compte des contraintes des éléments matériel et logiciel cibles. Mettre l’accent sur le partage des connaissances entre les différentes équipes à l’échelle des studios de EA
● Être responsable des considérations techniques et esthétiques pour le style artistique d’effets visuels du projet. Atteindre un équilibre entre qualité visuelle élevée et respect de nos contraintes de performance
● Gérer les effets de particules intrajeu pour les jeux d’aventure, incluant les effets liés aux armes et aux véhicules, à l’environnement, à la destruction, etc.
● Motive est un environnement créatif et collaboratif, et les artistes en effets visuels doivent formuler des commentaires propres aux tâches qui leur sont assignées.

Compétences du prochain artiste principal en effets visuels chez
Motive :
● Expérience de livraison de jeux de haute qualité pour console
● Expérience des trousses 2D comme Photoshop, After Effects ou
Nuke
● Expérience des trousses 3D comme Max ou Maya
● Solide connaissance des effets environnementaux, de l’éclairage et
de la dynamique
● Excellentes compétences de communication et de résolution de
problèmes
● Capacité de travailler efficacement en équipe et de communiquer
avec d’autres disciplines
● Excellentes capacités techniques servant à la création de nouveaux
pipelines artistiques et d’effets visuels
● Compétences organisationnelles à l’égard des tâches, des fichiers et
de l’entreposage du matériel
Compétences et expérience supplémentaires souhaitables :
● Connaissance du moteur Frostbite un atout et expérience avec Unity
Visual Graph Editor ou Unreal Niagara également souhaitable
● Expérience du langage de script un réel aout (HLSL, Python, etc.)
● Expérience avec Houdini un réel atout

Motive, Electronic Arts’ newest AAA studio, is seeking a Senior VFX Artist to be part of a team developing Action/Adventure games.

What a Senior VFX Artist will do at Motive:

Research, conceptualize and create high quality effects that communicate gameplay and elevate the player’s experience.  These FX assets will be created for in-game environments, gameplay, cinematics and scripted events. Strive to reach an industry leading quality bar and raise the product experience.

  • Partner closely with the Lead Artists, Designers, and Engineering Teams to create high quality real-time visual effects.  FX assets include particle systems, meshes, shaders, textures, rigid body sims and animations
  • Create FX Assets using EA’s proprietary game engine, according to the agreed design and within the constraints of the target hardware and software. There is an emphasis on knowledge sharing between different teams throughout EA’s studios.
  • Be responsible for technical and aesthetic considerations for the project’s visual effect art style.  A balance must be achieved between a high visual quality and staying within our performance constraints.
  • Manage In-Game Particle Effects for action adventure games.  These include weapon and vehicle fx, environmental, destruction, ect.

The next great Senior VFX Artist at Motive would ideally have:

  • Experience shipping high quality console games
  • Experience in 2d packages such as Photoshop, After Effects or Nuke
  • Experience in 3d packages such as Max or Maya
  • Strong knowledge of environmental effects, lighting and dynamics
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work well in a team and communicate with other disciplines
  • Solid Technical abilities to aid in creating new visual effects art pipelines
  • Organizational skills when approaching tasks, files and storage of the material

Additional skills and experience that are also nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Frostbite is a plus, and experience with Unity Visual Graph Editor or Unreal Niagara is also valued
  • Experience with a scripting language is a big plus (HLSL, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with Houdini is a big plus

A link to your portfolio must be included with your application/resume.  All portfolios should contain a breakdown of the work. It must be very clear what you, the applicant, are responsible for in your reel, screenshots, scanned pictures, web page portfolio, etc.

  • Examples of fantastical effects animation (spells, explosions)
  • Examples of rigid or soft body dynamics
