Respawn Entertainment is a AAA game development studio that was founded in 2010 by former co-founders of Infinity Ward and creators of the multi-billion dollar Call of Duty and Modern Warfare franchises. We've shipped Titanfall and Titanfall 2 to critical acclaim, and recently shipped a free-to-play battle royale game in the Titanfall universe, Apex Legends. We are currently hiring for our Star Wars JEDI: Fallen Order, Apex Legends, and Super Secret VR game development teams. The opportunity to create groundbreaking games with some of the best developer talent in the industry awaits our future team members.  

We are seeking a skilled Associate 3D Artist to join our Star Wars™ development team on a temporary basis to assist with taking 3D character assets that come in from insourcing and outsourcing partners, and converting these into our engine. The artist's responsibilities will include some texturing and modeling to ensure that assets meet our quality bar standards and fit within expectations set by art leadership. This is a great opportunity for an entry-level artist who would like to gain experience working at a AAA development studio under the mentorship of top industry talent!

 

**This position is a temporary assignment to start, with potential for longer term employment. Working hours are full time and onsite at our studio in Chatsworth, CA. (Relocation is not offered for this position.)**

 

What you’ll do...

• Authoring of 3D assets provided by internal insourcing and external outsourcing partners into our game engine.
• Verify that the incoming assets follow our technical standards, and communicate with corresponding partners when corrections are needed.
• Work closely with the rest of the Character Art Department in preparing reviews of incoming assets, summarizing department feedback, and communicating it back to our partners.
• Some texturing and modeling work as needed to help ensure that assets are highly detailed and meet the look/feel/quality requirements set by art leadership.
• Assist with the creation of AAA quality character props and assets.
• Ensure that assets fit memory requirements.
• Follow schedule and deliver assets on time.

 

Ideally, you’ll have...

• A portfolio of highly detailed 3D art with a focus on character assets.
• A portfolio that shows quality, taste, and ability to hit a photorealistic/believable look.
• Experience with standard art packages such as Maya, Photoshop, and Zbrush.
• Demonstrable understanding of surface properties for anatomy and costuming for characters.
• Experience working with a game engine and implementing 3D work into engine.
